What about all those other diesels that produce much more NOx than claimed? The BBC commissioned one of those “real world” tests of two cars, a VW that was supposedly EU5 compliant and a Focus that was supposedly EU6 compliant. The VW produced four times as much as the test permitted and the Focus five times.
I hope they don’t have “too big to fail” in German vocabulary. If it ends up bankrupting VW, they SHOULD NOT be bailed out, and the debt should NOT be dischargeable! GM taught VW that it’s OK to cheat and that there are no consequences for fucking up.
Speaking of modded cars, I never got why some cams are described as “radical idle-recommended for track use only” until I drove my friend’s big cam LS1 T/A. The cam surge was so bad the damn thing was almost impossible to park. You would either kill the car, or jump forward.
