I think he meant from the perspective of a normal person. Even people who don’t care about cars knows someone who drives an S-class has lots of money. Those same people think the Phaeton is just a big Passat and don't look twice at it. Only enthusiasts would recognize and look at a Phaeton.

Yes, E34 M5s are cheaper, but this will have either similar or better performance, plus it’s much rarer and it’s freaking purple. The manual swap makes it just that much better... NP.
