It’s ABSOLUTELY an example of racism. Unfair and unfounded prejudice of another race? That’s racism. In fact, it’s the most common manifestation of Black racism. “Stay with your tribe/people”. “Don’t be messin with them white girls.”.
Too many people have added the “from a position of power” into their definition of racism to downplay their own racism. In that case, that mother was in a position of power anyway. Not systemic power, but the power she had to end her son’s relationship absolutely is a position of power.

Eh, I understand what they’re saying but they seem like they’re laying this at the feet of people like Chelsea, which is crazy. It also seems like they’re opportunists too. They saw someone who was famous and knew that confronting her would get a lot of attention, so they went for it.
