The bells didn’t make her go crazy. It alerted her to a choice:
It seems I’m one of the only people who still likes this show now, because apparently the idea that a show whose only long-running theme that rulership by birth is destructive at best and when led by ill rulers is horrifying in totality, ending with yet another ill-ruler with a longstanding history of…
It’s hardly a magnanimous end for the nurse, but “Tall, Dark, and Handsome” is hardly magnanimous to her as a character. She isn’t painted as a sympathetic figure, but a deranged lunatic, looked down upon by the world around her (and that the world is right to do so) for her self-destructive delusion.
I honestly think this is kinda realistic in terms of the actual SW universe. If Vader was interested in having a harem, he’d have had a giant one easy as pie. And he has no problem killing subordinates that annoy him or that he feels is useless.
Toxic blah blah this toxic blah blah that, how about a story about a crazy person working for evil people obsessed over a crazy evil person that doesn't end well for anyone.
Sounds like someone needs to study that whole “intent vs. impact” thing
Rage-Clicks..
Here’s the thing: Dennis Hallum isn’t responsible for the artwork. He might have written the story, but he didn’t draw the artwork. I’m not even sure if he saw the artwork before it was published, but even if he did, he might not have seen what was controversial before others saw it. (Authors often have blinders where…
The way he throws a fellow writer in front of the bus, promotes his own “superior" storyline and acts like he just casually posted this make him seem like such a asshole.
Never ceases to amaze me how people can take ANYTHING and turn it into a controversy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There’s a whole damn trope dedicated to this: Draco in Leather Pants.
Also, fuck Wendig. His writing style is trash. He shouldn’t have been canned for his political commentary. But look at this tweet: “Apropos of nothing.” Bull-fucking-shit you twee motherfucker.
It’s ABSOLUTELY an example of racism. Unfair and unfounded prejudice of another race? That’s racism. In fact, it’s the most common manifestation of Black racism. “Stay with your tribe/people”. “Don’t be messin with them white girls.”.
Too many people have added the “from a position of power” into their definition of racism to downplay their own racism. In that case, that mother was in a position of power anyway. Not systemic power, but the power she had to end her son’s relationship absolutely is a position of power.
Yes, it is. If you share the beliefs of the author’s mother, it’s not that her actions weren’t racist. It’s that you are.
The casual acceptance of that story as normal, and representative of black women, is pretty unfortunate.
Yep. My dad was like that for a long time. The whole “stay in your tribe” thing is terrible. When him and my mom were going through a divorce (his fault), my mom suggesting counseling. His first reaction was to blurt out “I don’t need no white man telling me what to think.” We’re from southern Louisiana, where that…
That lead in story about your mom was absolutely brutal. We talk a lot about racism, and this kind is the most saddening. That Italian girl was probably just like your mom, but mom just couldn’t see past the skin color. It is a travesty. Everybody gotta do better.
Someone needs to get a TV with a better contrast ratio.
None of that contradicts what Pelosi said, since she was referring to the general election.
