I’d settle just for the reaction times and physical fitness to effectively race one of these.

Let me guess you think it should “‘murica”

Not sure they deserve a MOAB.

The same old bitching. “The interior is poor quality!”

“This technology is perfectly safe so long as government and private corporations don’t ever cut corners, neglect maintenance or upgrades, or ignore problems and try to cover it up to save a buck/their careers.”

If you have a reactor cooling system that cannot handle a 30 or 40 degree range of river water temperature, that cooling system is underengineered and awful. There is NO reason that slightly warmer water should result in the cooling system not being able to keep up. I’d love to see an article or link to this if you

You don’t know what you’re talking about. “Modern reactors” (i.e. Breeder reactors) use their fuel much more efficiently than old designs past the point where it would be considered waste, and can continue using it essentially up to the point that it’s intert.

There is a direct relationship between your proximity to nuclear facilities and your fear of them. People fear the unknown and if you live near one, you probably know a half dozen people that work there.

I’d take one in my backyard, definitely. I’m biased, of course, as I’m in the industry. But I’ve worked at a decommissioning plant. The locals are almost 100% in favor of nuclear, in my experience, and sad to see the plants go.

Reactors are not cooled by river water, sea water or rain water. What that river water is doing is condensing the steam that leaves the steam driven electric generator. The only reason that warm river water would shut down a nuclear plant (or any plant for that matter) would be if it’s so hot sufficient vacuum can’t

I work in railroad signaling, and your description is perfect. All our systems are fail safe as well. The track circuits apply voltage when it is safe to travel, so when a train sees no voltage, then it assumes the lowest speed it has to go. Same with positive train control. Proceeding past signals require radio

This is part of the shit about anti-nuclear positions that annoys me, you have people basing their opinions off decades old technology, still pointing to disasters like fukushima (reactors way past their expiration date) as evidence against nuclear power. Well guess what, maybe if we stopped using reactor tech from

I think it’s important to point out what the term “fail-safe” even means. Many people mistakenly believe it means that a system cannot fail, or that it is very unlikely to fail. That is not the case.

It wasn’t that long ago that you could do just that with a select few American manufacturers. Studebaker (South Bend, IN) was noted for building special orders and the customer could pick it up at the factory. Many years ago (1973) I got to drive one such special order from the Putnam County NY area to Harrisburg, PA

Hopefully HIS son will be able to buy direct.

Don’t car dealerships know we have the internet now? It is time to stop being shady bags of crap! I guess it is a Honda so maybe they are willing to trade the bad press online to get the Honda bros in the door to look at a car they can’t get financing for? Interesting strategy Cotton, let’s see how it works out for

I hate car dealers. Dealing with them is the worst.

I grew up in Georgia ( the country). In the 90s, recovering from the soviet collapse and with all the ex-soviet people in govt. positions, the country was a hell hole. To have been inside a car, was a cool thing as a kid. Sure, I had been in busses, but only a handful of times had I sat in a car.

I have found that Enterprise/National just DGAF if you’re a regular customer. I rent through National for work (Emerald Executive Elite) and I take their SUV’s to some of the nastiest waste facilities in North America. I bring them back dirty and stinky and no one bats an eye.
