It looks like Favreau is only directing the pilot... but the rest of the directing list includes Jonathan Frakes, Robert Duncan McNeill, and Brannon Braga, so in terms of “people who know what the heck they’re doing”, things actually seem pretty set.
I liked it! What actually sells it for me even more is Jon Favreau directing. I don’t know if that’s just the premier episode, or more of the season, but it’s a big bonus for me.

I agree the skip shift is a awful idea, but why bypass the hill hold, it’s a wonderful invention! your dad said “can” hold on a hill with the clutch, not you should hold a car on a hill with the clutch, doing that is a great way to wreck your clutch early. Driving stick isn’t just about being able to do it smoothly…
