I think the bigger issue was that, budgetarily, none of the services were going to get a new airframe unless it was 'common' across the three service branches. I just got my American Muscle catalog a few days ago, and they were able to go like 12.2 with an intake and tune. I don’t have much time to search, but here’s a link from last year, where they were able to go 12.9 with a similar setup. I believe they’ve gotten much better since then.

Just note that it’s easier to toddler than to baby. Rear facing seats are pretty bulky, and you need to move the front seat up fairly far to get the seat in. My wife was very happy when we moved my son to a front facing seat.

My 2006 GT has gotten me 27 MPG on long road trips, with 3.55 gears. That’s gone down, now that I’m on wider rubber, but I still regularly see 21 MPG in mixed driving.
