As much as I know about the Iowas, and Naval munitions/tactics, I never knew about the W23! Thanks!

I'm all for force projection and strength through superior weapons, but, while the USS New Jersey was a tremendous weapon when she was built, there's zero reason for the Navy to deploy a weapon like that with today's threat envelope. Ditto for tomorrow's. The Navy of today and tomorrow requires fleet air defense and…
I hope the new 'vette doesn't default to 'Eco' mode when you start the car up, each time, and that once the user sets the mode, it's persistent.
How about fishing close to Tybee Island, and knowing that there's a (possibly) fully equipped and armed Mark 15 nuclear warhead sitting in some silt, with a potential yield of 3+ megatons?
Most Americans in the 1700s and 1800s were rather short. If you enter many homes that were built in that time period, and haven't been updated throughout the years, you'll see that the doorways are much shorter than they are today, typically below 5'10". Our ascension towards the heavens is a rather new phenomenon,…
Perhaps his has cylinder deactivation? It's a 2007, I believe, and I've driven it in real-world conditions. Even with 4WD (obviously without the front differential engaged), it gets pretty damn good gas mileage. Around town, it's not so great, but he lives in the country, and commutes 40 miles, one-way, on long,…
I couldn't think up a good response, and you did it for me. Thank you.
My dad's GMC 1500 with the 5.3L and 4WD gets 22 MPG on the highway. Considering my Mustang GT (manual) gets 27 and my wife's C300 Sport 4-Matic gets 30, that's not bad!
Guess where a much bigger chunk of it goes - maintaining the lifestyles of people who don't work.
Ehh, my GT isn't so bad. I get 27 MPG cruising at 70 MPH on the highway, and 20 or so in mixed freeway and local driving. Not bad for 340-ish HP!
Well, this is most likely still an S197 chassis/development mule. I doubt this is the final form, or even a final prototype of the new body and chassis set.
They're in the process of putting together a Top Gun sequel, in which Tom Cruise/Maverick will be an F-35 instructor at Top Gun. Kelly McGillis got old and ugly in a hurry, so hopefully she won't be his love interest.
Except that the Vector W8 was produced in the late-80s, and this was far before that. Perhaps the W2 would be inspiration, but since they both came out in 1980, it's possible that it was this that inspired Jerry Wieger.
Doubtful. As Volvo have shown, they're not interested in putting up the type of power numbers that a proper M5 fighter would require, and even when they do create an 'exciting' vehicle, like the C30 Polestar, it's, what...$100k? And didn't that vehicle have like a third of the power that the concept did?
The Taurus, while originally a mid-sized car, is firmly a full-size car/CUV/SUV/thing nowadays. I don't see a world where they sell both the Mondeo and a Mondeo-based Taurus in the same country. It provides model overlap that would sacrifice sales of one vehicle to augment sales of another. Also, I think the Mondeo…
It's not, and never will be again. All the cars used in V8 Supercars are purpose-built, tube chassis cars with a production-like bodyshell and a pushrod V8 driving rear wheels. The FWD Nissan Altima that you can buy at a dealership is nothing like the RWD Altima run in the series, and even though the Falcon,…
I'm hearing more and more that the governing body is going to allow for two-door coupes once the Falcon goes out of production, which would likely allow Ford to introduce the Mustang as their new entrant.
Given that the 4.4L Yamaha/Volvo engine is fairly closely related to the 3.4L Yamaha V8 that was in the Gen III Taurus SHO, what with its propensity for spinning the drive gears off the cams, it would be funny to see their first race failure be for that fact, thus validating the claims of thousands of litigants…
I'm pretty skeptical that the V8 Supercars governing body would allow just one manufacturer to step so far outside the current operating envelope, choosing a DOHC engine design over the standard 5.0L pushrod V8 that all teams currently run, and that Erebus/Mercedes was forced to develop for the series this year. …
Oh yeah, they have. I was looking at them a few months ago to replace my Mustang GT, since I've got a son, now, and they're way outside my price range. Well, they're outside my price range for a USED vehicle that isn't a CTS-V or a GT500, especially when I can get a Charger Daytona, completely LOADED, for less,…
