I directed voiceover and mocap, and designed/wrote 3 million-selling games. And I can say from experience that voiceover work is the easiest, cushiest gig in all of video games. It requires little prep, the conditions are luxurious, and the pay is great.

Rocket League > Tomb Raider

“Multiplayer games are especially difficult for today’s QA departments to handle; even hundreds of testers can’t successfully replicate what will happen when hundreds of thousands of people are all shooting aliens on live servers.”

It might only be possible if they limited the number of Pokemon that are in the game, but no one would actually want that. It would take an enormous amount of work to animate all 700+ Pokemon to be playable and balanced. They would have to significantly lower the amount of playable Pokemon in the game, or simplify the

People pirate video games (or music, or movies) because there is very very little, if any chance of consequence, period-end-of-story. They just happen to be the only items that are available for you purchase both physically digitally.

If you stopped playing both series after MW2 and AC2 you don’t really know how good or bad the later games are.

Activision has CoD game’s on a three year cycle now right? Three teams who have three years each to make their next version of the series. It was two years before they added another team. So this team likely spent two years on BO3.

2) Every demo on stage e3 demo is scripted and choreographed, even the ones that don’t appear to be. (Hint: Those are just the ones with the best scripts).

TL;DR: Also, realize that you're being shown an unfinished product that will likely change by the time it releases.

Amazing article! More of these please ;)

... Huh.

“MEH, IM A GAMER AND I IF I’M GONNA SPEND $19.99 ON A STEAM SALE THEN THE GAME HAS TO BE EXACTLY IN A TRAILER A YEAR AND A HALF FROM LAUNCH FUCK THE DEVS.”

This is such a good story. I feel like game fans often resort to attacking developers with their lizard brains on issues of game substance without ever stopping for a millisecond to think of the countless decisions that led to what you see on the big screen. I wish there was a better way to aim displeasure at systemic

Subsurface scattering techniques and some similar brethren of theirs, are actually quite critical to accurately and correctly rendering the eyes, so this is actually pretty relevant.

I know what AA is...

But it is going in that direction. Why does everyone assume that improvement in one field somehow comes at the cost of other fields? It’s like they think the video gaming industry, filled with millions of people who all have unique ideas, are some kind of gestalt hive mind that can only do one thing at a time.

Both can exist, yo.

Sometimes all it takes is some dude mislabeling a file.

If anything she’s guilty of being a generic character...like her father.

This is a joke, right? A bunch of cliche tough guy poses and a selfie is all it takes for you to think that someone stole your likeness? Give me a break.
