I'm just thankful I went through my growing pains before twitter and facebook. He's 20 so I SORT of get why he was oblivious to how seriously this could all blow up in his face when he was venting. Then again... if you want to run a company you have to grow up. In big boy world we don't threaten to kill people.

That is fucking vile and anyone doing that, 'feminist' or not should be arrested.

Everybody involved in this whole thing wants to act like they have the moral high ground

Bayonetta 2 has a 91 on metacritic (which is I assume what you are talking about). That's hardly mixed. Further, complaining about a game's portrayal of a certain real group of people is certainly a valid criticism, whether or not it affects the way YOU play the game (and that's really the issue here - just because it

Gamer Gate can't explicitly do anything. It's not a person and it doesn't have a leader. Unfortunately the beginning of Gamer Gate can't be traced to anything except the harassment of women. That's where it began and that what it continues to do, so I think it needs to go away before we can have a real discussion

What legitimate discourse? GamerGate hasn't delved into examining the ethical issues in video game journalism at all. What they have done is a lot of slut-shaming, making threats and acting like complete assholes.

You're a bit backwards, here. GG was created specifically *for* harassing women - at the time, it was specifically Zoe Quinn, although it quickly spread to 'everyone who GG sees as a "SJW" scumbag'. It was only later that others began to claim, "Nuuu, it's about game journalism! It's totally a righteous cause!" even

You GamerGaters want game journalism to look like you want it to? Do what you people always say whenever inclusion is brought up in gaming and make your own gaming website. It can't be that hard right?!

If GamerGate supporters who aren't insane misogynist psychos want to continue on their quest to discuss and question gaming press, game devs, and game publishers' complex relationship... then go start a new title and a new hashtag.

Gamergate, first coined by actor Adam Baldwin, is an amorphous campaign that is ostensibly about ethics in video game journalism and defending the "gamer" identity but has come under fire for its links to a wave of harassment, particularly of women, in gaming.

Good luck finding a game that doesn't ship with bugs. It's not even the dev's fault. As games become more complex, they will have more bugs. No amount of QA will grab all the bugs, hell, no amount of QA will grab all the obvious bugs.

I know plenty of people who bought the game and found this amusing, but some people have a sense of humour, I guess.

Well if we're goin by that logic then its nearly impossible for any new game to not be a rip off.

At least they are changing what their game is and a large portion of how it is played this time as opposed to releasing the last game reskinned with pooches.

Time to head for change.org!

You can make a solid living where I live in the midwest on half of that. Unfortunately that's not that much where a majority of the game developers are located.

in cali bucks thats like 35k a year in stl

No they don't... (Well okay they do, but it's different than you think)

I would definitely not say that they take the most risk. Risk for the company? Sure. Risk for themselves? Not as much as your contractor Artists or Designers. Those guys/gals are putting their families well-being at risk with every project. They never know when they won't have a job. And they pour their heart and soul

That attitude will kill videogame experiences. When you were a kid, did you honestly care about framerate? No. Gamers are becoming complainers rather than appreciating a good thing when you got it.

Animators do animation, modelers do modeling. But as you say, being a generalist is always good as you get knowledge of the pipeline on things you might not necessarily work on during a production. It all comes down to how large the studio is, the smaller studio the more need for a generalist. - An animator
