I think a Metal Gear game with a female protagonist would work pretty well.
Every other character doesn't need to be female but if you're going to have a multiplayer/co-op then you should at least give the option especially if you've done it in the past.
I agree with you about the overreacting part, but you lost me immediately after that. Why exactly can't you have a female protagonist in an action game? Ever played Metroid or Tomb Raider?
What overreaction? I am calm. If anything, slightly defeatist: I say 'like always' and that this isn't surprising, and that it would be nice to have some change.
There's mostly dudes in video games, yea. But those games are pretty much all about action, violence, fighting.
wtf?
That's pretty sexist, dude.
I hate these fabricated outrage stories as much as the next sane person, but everything you just said is stupid. Why can't a female character be featured in "tough" games? What an obnoxious sentiment.
Yep, no one cares.
Just because you're not outraged doesn't mean there isn't an outrage.
Well I'm bored of people like you seeming to think that not representing 51% of the population and 49% of gamers is a good idea.
How about changing it to "disappointment" if that would help you cope better? I'm in the disappointed-outrage camp.
How is it a fake outrage? It's not like the news is just making this up, I know plenty of real people who are upset about the continued lack of women in big name games. Especially when the developers use half-assed excuses like these.
You still don't get the point.
The issue is relevant to women. And I think right there you made our point for us.
It makes me a little sad that a major franchise from a company that has given us former-slave-assassin and half-black-woman-assassin can't do better than four white male protagonists at this point.
Like many have asked, please elaborate on other 'more relevant issues in the gaming industry'?
Uh, because women represent less than 20% of game characters that are lead player characters in games. Why would there be controversy over only having a female lead when EVERY OTHER GAME has ONLY male leads?
Because you can play as a man in literally every other Assassin's Creed. Also most of the other video games available.
