I was just referring to an ongoing joke that Jason was tweeting throughout the debate. About how Romney turned into a giant spider and was attacking Obama and the audience but no one was talking about it.

I know man. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

It's SpiderRomney's fault

Graphical artist? I don't mean to offend, but if you've been at a game studio for 2 years and are now being nitpicky about titles, "graphical artist" makes you sound fairly uninformed. I've worked on a few large titles and a couple small titles over the last couple of years and I've never heard the term "graphical

I interviewed out at Epic a couple years ago. When he came in to chat, I asked him what his responsibilities were. To describe his job he said, "I'm the Mayor of Funtown." Then clarified essentially saying, "I make sure we find the most fun and engaging experience in every part of the game." One of my favorite

Wait which Bioware dude went to Naughty Dog? I know Nate Wells, the Irrational guy, went to ND but I don't think I heard about a top Bioware guy.

It is out of the question unfortunately. Using Valve as an example, frankly, makes no sense. Not because they aren't doing things right, on the contrary, I totally agree - the way they do things absolutely is better than 99% of other developers. But to use them as a point of reference to discuss game development

The difference, and the actual root of this problem, is money. The reason more risks aren't being taken on larger titles isn't because everybody is too skilled and nobody is creative - it's because those risks are too expensive. Back then on GoldenEye, if they screwed up, it wasn't nearly as disastrous then as it

"...Paying more attention to play-testing and spending another few months on polish..." Thats actually sort of what Dora B was referring to I think. I've worked a bit on a few pretty large AAA titles, so thats what I'm talking about here. Sadly, it just isn't that simple.

As overly zealous and absurd as their request is there, I wouldn't call it bigotry. They're not being intolerant of anyone, they're just making an entirely unreasonable request is all. I did forget about that aspect of the company. They're odd, but it doesn't turn me off of the software too terribly. That is, unless

3D Coat?! Nice! Oh man, I may have to pick that up due to the sheer convenience. Plus, 3D Coat is awesome and makes retopo so simple, it actually seems like a game sometimes.

Damn everybody's being so harsh! I realize it's super cheesy at times and the acting isn't great, but it's pretty well done for just a side project. 40 minutes is extremely ambitious. To plan something like that out, shoot it all, then edit, effects, all of those sound effects, plus the recruiting and organizing all

If LongDarkRoad is still using his original PS3 that he bought 6 years ago and over the course of that time has gotten lots of use out of it, that seems like a fairly worthy investment. Especially if he's able to play any playstation game dating back to 1994 - over the last 18 or so years - that sounds like a pretty

I don't really have any beef with EA. They haven't offended me in any way really and I dig some of their games.

EA isn't producing, though. It's publishing. They were in on the deal back when it was announced as Overstrike. It's easy to blame them for anything negative, but this relationship is going through the EA Partners department - it isn't being watched over by the people that everyone typically complains about when

Now playing

But EA was in the deal from the beginning. The EA logo is in the announcement trailer for Overstrike too.

I doubt EA had as much a hand in this change as you're insisting. I agree entirely that this new iteration is definitely to the project's detriment, but I don't think that blame lies as squarely with EA as you're suggesting. EA may be publishing, but Insomniac is still the intensely independent studio it has always

I'm pretty positive EA had nothing to do with it. EA doesn't in any way own Insomniac (like it does Bioware, DICE etc.) and Insomniac has always been an intensely independent studio - doing what they want to do. Especially given Insomniac's reputation, I'm fairly sure EA was actually pretty hands-off.

Nah, they're finalized. They wouldn't release footage of unfinished stuff unless it was very early in development or a making of video. Especially since they've been releasing these videos recently and the game ships next month - which means the game has been done for like a month already. I think it's probably more

THANK YOU. Can I give you a massive, kickass high-five for making that distinction? I've had way too many discussions with people who misuse "graphics."
