Yeah, I used to agree with people who find it romantic or sentimental to request a father's permission, but I realize now that really it is just implying that a woman is property passed from her father to her husband.

I think I disagree with the Amy Winehouse headline. Sure, illegal drugs were not in her system at the time of death, but isn't it still possible that she died of the long-term effects of long-term, heavy drug abuse? Maybe the headline should be 'Amy sober at time of death' or 'Amy did not OD'...but surely it remains…

I find your argument interesting, but I can't imagine a doctor being apposed to removing a mole or some other non-threatening, yet living tissue. I understand your argument that "living tissue is made dead" I just don't see how a doctor would be against it. Unless they were from some don't-kill-anything-even-ants type…
