So, why would you think Notre Dame students are "really bad" at football?

Agreed. I don't know if that's what Pinkett meant (but probably), but I sure agree that's a much needed element for a tough team.

No, martyks did not mean "players who miss half the season for robbing a liquor store". He said, "a Dennis Rodman type", whom you can "count on to bend the rules if the rules needed to be bent". Huh. His comment was pretty clear on that.

I tend to agree. And they overuse the term "insane". Still, io9 is a true gem.

Of course you're taking a lighthearted joke and going nuts on it.

So, the article makes what looks like a pretty cool statement that "men love to see the woman underneath the makeup, so ditch the dramatic routine and go natural for once."

'Noted' not 'voted'. Great point, significant.

Presumably the Japanese are levelheaded enough to know that a) 300 million people are gonna include some jackasses, and b) twitter is not a White House official position statement....

Amen. Still, at least once a week these days I find myself wandering over from io9....

And, uh, why would it be great to see the United States get "absolutely destroyed"?

I think it's a tiny start. The bright line 'no girls' rule has been broken. You're right it's a farce this time, but in the long run this is an early, very visible step in what is likely to be an important part in promoting women's rights in one of the world's most repressive places.

Because it's a fact of physiology that women would have almost no chance to make rosters, but there is a very real social value to girls and women playing sports and living active lifestyles. It's good for them, and it's good for all of us.

    This was excellent, sir.

    I completely agree.

Ok, and we're in agreement except for your second sentence. While these guys sound extreme and their views distasteful, I don't think they're trying to stop themselves from a depraved response; I just think they consider a peek of 'good ankle' improper.

You do? Then I ask you, too:

So, are you saying you find these men, these ultra-Orthodox Jews who wear these blinders, "absolutely terrifying", and you think they should be institutionalized?

Again, you're kind of ignoring what I actually wrote, and instead telling me what I really mean.

The leading opponent falling, thus enabling one to win, does mar the victory somewhat. Almost anyone would agree with that.
