Out of curiosity, couldn't one make similar arguments for competitive ballroom dancing?

I didn't say annnyything you just tried to put in my mouth.
Meh, you're not as likely to be lauded quite so much when the person beating you tripped near the end of the race, enabling you to take the gold.
There's a lot of true things that are better left unspoken in the interest of being gracious.
I'll see your Sharapova and raise you an Andy Roddick.
Yeah the penalty was a game changer definitely. The idea behind mentioning the unpunished Tancredi face stomp, though, is that, had a red card resulted, Canada would have been down to 10 players, and the missing one would have been one of their best - those are also potential game changers. Not as direct, but…
You know, by way of counterpoint, I've seen a few snippets of foreign tv coverage. Those commentators are waayy overtly biased and enthusiastic compared to NBC's American commentators. Not even close. I'm pretty sure there's not just an "American" bubble.
Howzabout the poetry of the Canada coach in pre-game interviews bitching about "highly illegal" US physicality on corner kicks, then the first US goal turns out to be a corner kick ... that no one touched.
But this doesn't track - Canada is pretty much entirely dependent on the US economy. And doesn't half the Canadian population huddle within 50 miles of the US border or something? So wouldn't the US have to be at least the fabulously wealthy and famous drunk uncle who's paying for the nephew's college? And rent?
That's kind of a weird vote. Who 'voted'? What poll was this?
At a $15 trillion GDP (US) compared to a $1.4 trillion GDP (Canada), our national debt's only about 3 times Canada's.
Wait, wait - you mean they don't consider their independence the biggest mistake they ever made? Huh.
Huh. I'd have said that the "women and children first" ethic arose from the biological reality that for propagation of the species, women and children are more valuable from a biological perspective.
The crip was lame, and very inappropriate for Wimbledon.
Has the NYT written a similar piece about Tebow, I wonder? Great piece!
The long and short of this is that you accused me of comparing blackness to redheadedness, and you were incorrect to do so.
No. I replied to a comment that stated, "I don't think redheads historically have been compared to fruits and vegetables in a way that implies that they are ugly and beastlike".
Haha try telling a redhead that! Hey pasty ... carrot top ... ginger ... freckles .... etc. None of those meant kindly. I'd bet a few pennies that being a redhead is one of the tougher features a child can have to deal with.
Ah Lindy West - always good for a lecture. And the last person who still uses "hella" non-ironically.
