I love Oakland but then stupid shit like this happens on a semi-regular basis and the police department seem useless to stop it. The Oakland police department is literally just a half dozen city blocks from this. The response should have been nearly immediate.
Secondly, to add to the stupidity, do the people whom are…
I would probably just not take my family to these types of events.
I saw that too and thought “well, there’s my dose of irony for the day...”
Sigh. This is the kind of shit that’s really ruining car culture for the rest of us.
That’s not a riot, that’s a failure of civic institution (or a success of systematic disenfranchisement I suppose.) I would argue riots have ostensible political causes or goals. This is what it looks like when communities and their constituent families don’t have time or money to raise kids, nor institutions to…
Why doesn’t the airbag deploy in that Subaru? Special “Street Takeover” edition Outback?
I would love to see the cops do this: after the takeover happens, cops surround and block in all participants, then call in an army of tow trucks. Then make a “terribly inconvenient” series of “paperwork mistakes” that extend the time in impound.
I’m not the biggest fan of cops using tear gas willy nilly, but this seems to be a very good time to break it out. Block off the surrounding intersections, and move in.
In Minneapolis this was classified as “mostly peaceful protesting.”
Hell of an ad for this business though:
That’s not a street takeover, that’s a riot.
Articles like this need to lead with how many people were arrested.
I’ll admit that Klementieff didn’t knock my socks off in the last movie. I thought she was good, but whether because of the character or her performance, she was overshadowed by the rest of the cast who had their groove down. She had some good stuff in the holiday special, but that was like half of a movie. She really…
Oh, and the 3D for the hallway fight sequence towards the end was outstanding!
I hadn’t planned on seeing this one at all. Except for a few 3D sequences and some individual performances the first two did nothing for me. After seeing the D&D movie Friday I popped my head into this figuring I’d watch the first few minutes from the side to see how it looked and was surprised to find the theatre…
Well, between this and all the vivisection, I’m glad I’m giving The Mouse any money for GotG.
Just because it’s what you’d expect an employer to do doesn’t mean it’s not newsworthy. Sure, it’s cool if you want to be all blasé about, have fun. But are you saying it shouldn’t be reported on? That only helps the employer.
Hmm, yeah, that’s what employer do in a strike.
Of course Disney’s going to think the rules don’t apply to it. And it’ll keep buying companies until that’s actually true.
