I was thrown off by this too. All this talk of 5 cylinder engines is really strange... A quick trip to the Volvo website might be necessary research before writing a story about their engines but what do I know I’m not an automotive journalist.

I’m wondering how Volvo service will go for combustion engine parts and what not. There are millions of Volvo’s on the road using ICE engines. Will they be serviced at a separate dealer/sold through a separate company once Volvo goes full electric?
Really. The SPA V60 that this “auto-journalist” linked to has never been offered with a 5-pot, at least not in the US. Beyond that, this has nothing to do with Volvo’s plan to be all-electric by 2030. Short of offering ICE “Vawlvo” cars in Volvo showrooms, I don’t see the “cynical” part of this.
While the base engine in the current V60 is named the “T5", it’s actually a 2.0L inline 4. As others have said, the 5-cylinder has been dead for several years now.
Volvo no longer has 5 cylinder motors, brochoffski.
The T5 is not an inline 5 and volvo has not been making inline 5s for a while now. The T5 is just an inline 4 with a turbo, the T6 is that same engine with a turbo and a supercharger, and the T8 is the same inline 4 with a turbo, supercharger, and hybrid component
Ok....um, what?
“Half off!”
They still look like shit. They look TERRIBLE on that car.
I think the car looks worse when paired with the wheels, and the wheels look worse now than they did 24 years ago because they’re so dated.
What an pissy thing to say. These rims look like ass on this car. How’s that Justin? Am I judging them by the right criteria for you?
I imagine Jerry calling his delaer and being like “Hey...what’s the deal with allocations?”
Wrong. For the past 20-odd years, people have been tripping over their nuts while running to buy the next new thing on stilts while sedans and hatchbacks languished even with shitpiles of cash on the hood. The preponderance of SUVs is squarely on us. That the manufacturers happily enable the public while raking in…
This comment times 100! Manufacturers are chasing the market, not the other way around.
For doesn’t want to sell the proverbial “you” a sedan anymore, because the proverbial “you” doesn’t want to buy a sedan.
All Vapor is his new hydrogen vehicle company.
The level of sobriety necessary to pilot a vehicle such as this is in direct conflict with my experiences on the golf course.
Yeah, no way I’m closing the trunk on a disconnected battery. Had a ‘94 530i that, for whatever reason, triggered the door locks when I fiddled with the battery cable. Ended up bending the upper doorframe with a pry-bar enough that I could reach-in and unlock the door manually.
I’m pretty sure the trunk should be open too...
