Hold on ... were you really active in the early days of Deadspin, 2007-ish? My sympathies for your diagnosis go out to you regardless, but I think you probably also fall into that weird category of people I sorta “know” by their anonymous online presence, which (if you are that person) makes hearing about your

Window and aisle seats shouldn't cost MORE. Middle seats should just cost LESS.

I agree with point two. I know he’s not going to win, but I’m still hoping that if Bernie does well enough, it’ll convince the Democratic party to support democratic socialists in the future. One of the most common complaints I’ve heard about Bernie is that he “isn’t really a democrat”, and I’d much prefer the party

I’m more surprised that Sheryl Swoopes, easily one of the most recognizable names in women’s basketball, has been coaching in the city I live in for 3 years and I’m learning about it right now. Nice marketing job, Loyola.

I hate to Swoop in and change the topic, but whenever I see anything about Loyola I always think Brewster’s Millions. Anyone?

But they are true Ramblers

After the 2014-15 season, five players transferred to different programs. This year, 10 of the team’s 12 returning players have transferred or requested a release from their scholarships

I’ve thought about this too. I’ve witnessed relatives dying slow deaths (albeit over weeks and months, not years), and I can’t imagine putting my wife and young children through that experience.

Your story brought tears to my eyes and I generally despise Gawker writers. My mother-in-law has recently been diagnosed with Lewy-Body Dementia at 77 and is in a memory-care unit. My wife and I are in our mid-forties and purchased long-term care insurance this past Friday. Everything I read on these diseases focuses

1) This dumb election has made every single politically minded person lose their minds and I can’t wait until it’s over

Neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, Huntington’s etc) are truly tragic for both those afflicted as well the family and support staff. More candid stories like this are needed to prepare people for this possibility, which unfortunately will only become more common as the U.S./world population

My second biggest fear (ALS)

This disease needs a fucking cure man. Watching someone you love forget you and everything about their life is a living nightmare. We worry about this with my father-in-law since it runs in his family, but I guess you also can’t live your life in fear of “what-if”. This was a good read. Thank you.

I met my now-wife when she was the sole remaining family member alive to help her own father into early stages of this disease. It was humbling, devastating, draining, often horrible, and so rarely redeeming.

This is mislabeled. You are far more than adequate. You didn’t ask for this, and even people who have been devout and faithful see your strength for what it is. Even comic book heroes have weaknesses, why not a real flesh and blood hero? I am dealing with elders with no short term memory, and I still get to go home

I’m so sorry to read this, because it is truly heartbreaking, and yet I can’t help but think it deserves an even longer treatment somewhere. If it gave you any solace at all to write about your experience, please look into expanding on it if you can. It’s something that many of us, sadly, can relate to.

I hate Yadi. “Yadi is this”. “Yadi is that”. “Yadi takes control”. Fuck Yadi and Fuck the Cards.
