I actually liked the MMORPG more than the kidnapping plot that went on for like 700 pages. That being said I read Consider Phlebas and Excession and I’m done with Banks.

I finished Origins of Totalitarianism recently and that was difficult for a number of reasons. I basically had to read it in small intervals, because it is very dense with information and because it was depressing.

I don’t mind in the comic book universe where the first appearance is seemingly mutually beneficial. Here we footage of what appears to be unhappy and unhealthy test subjects and it’s hard to imagine what would cause someone to think they are in any way beneficial. It kinda reminds me of the amazingly bad super power…

There was a piece that came out around the debates where some tv staff leaked his skin care routine. Basically a ton of bronzer and makeup to hide a skin condition.

I’ve been wondering about Netflix claiming that some of their terrible releases were enormously successful by some internal metric. It sort of has this feel of corporate money laundering where you gin up some flimsy excuse to give bonuses to executives.

Sometimes when I’m feeling particularly cynical I feel like the point is just to release something high profile, claim success based on a mysteries internal metric, and use that “success” to justify a bonus for the executives involved.

I tried making Spaghetti all’Arrabiata and I really liked it. I think I really appreciate having more control over the flavor of sauce I use over store bought.

I loved last year when people where trying to figure out exactly who Jared was. They interviewed people around him and everyone said the same thing; “he seems like he’s listening and he doesn’t really ask questions.” I think the subtext was clear.
