There are huge developmental differences between a 14 and 26 year old that are particularly critical when we talk about ability to make choices, ability to recognize right from wrong and formation/stabilization of your personality. So this is really a false equivalence here. Also, when we talk about adults taking…
Yeah that’s 100% the legal strategy here. Sony’s lawyers know the other fucked up side to this- as a woman in the industry, you’re only worth your youth and your looks.
right though? like if THAT’S your instinct given the allegations of abuse and assault, your instinct is bad and you should feel bad
NO ONE PULL HIM OUT OF THE GREYS PLS.
I guess my point is that blanket statements about what is the appropriate age to date (as consensual adults! - super important) and proclamations of “ewwww” vary from person to person. Everyone’s different.
just here to second all of this. i would 10/10 bang p wilson
I know it feels that way, and I’m the same level of outspoken and thus seen as “too intimidating” - but the way I always think about it is that if I don’t stay true to myself and speak up, even if people are sexist assholes about it, then they’ve already won.
Tbh from everything that friends of mine in math and physics have told me this is par for the course in every damn undergrad in math/phys. Sorry you had to live through that.

I agree, and neither do I. I think that the criminal justice system struggles with handling sexual assault because of this. My original comment was more of a pushback against the asshats who decided that a) these women are liars because of their post-assault behavior and b) somehow making it worse for other victims…
Yes, but the idea is that neutral or positive behavior of victims towards their rapists after the rape is not proof that it didn’t happen. So literally it shouldn’t be “less believable” by virtue of the existence of that behavior.
Except the crown didn’t “cover it up” - especially if they were unaware of it, as would seem to be the case. These women did not do a “disservice” to anyone- sexual assault trials are extremely fraught. The fact that the legal system is poorly equipped to handle crimes like this doesn’t place the blame at these…
Yeah we still sadly live in a world where one instance of consent is taken as proof that the victim could have consented to any other sexual encounter. How fucking sad that is.
Yep.
fuck that billboard.
PSA to the fucking trolls in the comments.
You and GinandTonic are amazing, keep being awesome, thank you for the rational replies to some bullshit, ect
Holy fuck the self-hatred/women’s body hatred in these comments is so real- can we finally get some basic sex ed everywhere so people can quit growing up thinking their entire anatomy is “gross” or “ick”?? PS you’re doing god’s work in these comments
Omg lollllll that listicle killed me. No such luck though, I feel like most Canadians find their accent too charming.
