I imagine it will launch in Japan this year, or by February at the latest. The Microsoft press release doesn't even mention Japan as a possibility in 2014.

Except they didn't have to buy them, they already had them. GS is the exclusive retailer for the game in the US. Bottom line is they intentionally restricted stock, causing an increase in demand. This raised the price which GS is now selling at.
