If anyone else wants to take this idea and run with it, be my guest.

Thank God! The dude’s been needing a shower for a couple of weeks, but I wasn’t going to be the one to tell him.

Oh my gawd, now I have this idea for a whole art-themed superhero team: Mondrian, The Screamer, American Gothic, Capitan Guernica, Winged Victory... See what you did?

Yeah, that sounds pretty much on the nose.

I agree. But let’s be honest: King has endorsed some pretty shitty films based on his work (most recently The Dark Tower), and he hates what is arguably the best film ever made from his work. So his track record is spotty at best. Still, I think this is going to be one of those exceptions to the rule where he’s right

Yep, Kubrick, like many (most?) brilliant artists, had a singular vision... and a cantankerous personality. No doubt about that. I have read The Shining (in fact, I reread it last winter and reviewed it on my blog) and seen/own the movie, and I think they’re both solid works for their own reasons. Glad to hear IT is

Yep, I knew it was gonna be good. All the promos showed an artful film coming together. Maybe this is premature, but I think this is going to be this generation’s The Shining. Which means Stephen King will probably hate it but everyone else will realize it’s brilliance. ;)

OMG, I live in Tennessee and I want that t-shirt Jeff Forslund is wearing! Where can I get one?

Yes, Willow is one of the standout films of my late childhood. I still love it.

I disagree. It’s a world of violence for sure, where people kill or are killed every day for a lot of reasons, the main two being war and jockeying for more power. In that context her particular acts of violence seem tamer, but that doesn’t change the fact that she is systematically hunting people down to execute

Yeah, people cut her a lot of slack because of what she went through, but she’s pretty much a serial killer at this point and it’s hard to overlook that. It’s why I could never get into Dexter. Yes, he’s killing bad people, but at the end of the day he’s still a serial killer. The same applies to Arya.

There is something oddly fibrous about the way he’s textured. Still, I love the overall design.

Although he’s known to be friends with a guy who believes age of consent should be more of a suggestion than the law. How sincere can he really be about that? He’s a whack-a-doodle.

I live about two hours outside of Nashville, TN, which is very close to ‘ground zero’ (if you can apply that term) for the eclipse, the spot where it will be the most intense and last longest. The actual ground zero is somewhere in the southern tip of Illinois, I think. Anyway, I’m expecting Nashville is going to have

The Kelsey Grammer Nazi dislikes your gross misspelling of his name. Change it. Schnell!

OMG, Good Omens was my very first exposure to Terry Pratchett. I read it right out of high school. I knew Gaiman through The Sandman series, which is why I picked up the book, and it remains one of my fondest memories. Best part: the Four Motorcyclists of the Apocalypse. So looking forward to this!

Yes and no. In a general sense, hate speech is protected speech. However, when it starts getting tailored to a very specific identifiable individual or small group of identifiable individuals, then 1st Amendment protection ceases. At that point it constitutes harassment.

It’s really simple. Author William Gibson understands this issue very well:

Sigh. Well, all right, if you must. Fare thee well, Beth. We loved having you here. Take care, and . . .

Unfortunately, Black Bolt’s preoccupation with morality is also his greatest weakness
