It is bizarre! I don’t quite get it. I can only imagine they have a deal with Ford where they get certain allocations of various classes of cars, and they take the ones they don’t want? Unclear!

I used to have to rent frequently since I traveled for work and one day the agency told me they had no cars available, as I’d landed late. When I pushed them they said they did have a stick shift available, a compact. I told them I drove stick, and was preparing to find a 5 year old manual Elantra or something like

And premium economy is actually pretty great. If I’m on a slightly longer flight but it’s not a red eye or I plan on staying up, premium economy is my default. Good balance between comfort and cost.

I’ll be the absolute first to say that I was very lucky and privileged. I graduated from grad school with no debt (school in the UK), and was able to get a good job at a supporting company. All my travel was work travel so I amassed miles and status. I’m also married to someone that also works in tech leadership so

“Just about anybody can rent it”

While I think business or even premium economy can be out of reach for most people, I always budget business class when I’m looking to go on vacation. If I can’t afford to fly in business (especially on a red eye across the atlantic or to Asia) then I can’t afford to take the vacation.

It’s also about $18,000, and not very common. You’d either have to have staked out an industrial user or a professional film crew to steal it. I imagine whoever is using this purchased it as an investment in order to smuggle guns/drugs/what have you across the border.

I guess, but this isn’t really the kind of drone you just plug your phone into and start flying. It’s pretty complex and requires training. It’s absolutely massive, almost 2 meters across, heavy, and requires a whole communications setup that isn’t just a phone plugged into a controller attachment. This isn’t

This looks like a DJI Matrice - I’ve used this kind of drone to carry Blackmagic cameras. This is a very expensive drone, so this isn’t some kind of yokel, this is probably connected to some kind of organized crime.

Thank you! I really don’t like the black wheel trend. Granted, I don’t want chrome wheels, but a nice machined silver or painted grey is wonderful. With the right color, bronze or gold is also acceptable (STI). Also, anything that is original and period correct - like these chrome wheels!

I work in film production and we were unable to secure a permit for a film location for a last minute shoot the client HAD to have. I simply budgeted for the fines. This is common practice. I also always have a few thousand in cash to help ease the concerns of neighbors that may otherwise complain about noise or

I had to go outside and wipe down my center console compulsively after seeing the photo above. Wow that is FILTHY.

I’ve been obsessed with the Alphard ever since I took it all over Singapore while there for work. It’s by far the comfiest and coolest looking van out there.

Really depends on the car.

Oh I know that my complaint isn’t in the same ballpark as what doctors and nurses are going through, but I think we can all admit that wearing masks for extended periods is not as comfortable as going bare faced. It’s okay to complain about things even if other people have it worse than you.

All of the points you’re making and the knowledge you have are great! I also worked in energy (not nuclear specific), so I have some knowledge, but not all. Wish we hadn’t given up on nuclear.

I’ve got a flight to Austria in June and I’m really hoping I can be mask free by then. I flew to Switzerland over the holidays and while not a deal breaker, it’s just not comfortable being on a flight for 8 hours, trying to sleep, masked.

It’s always surprising to me (still) when people think that electric cars are the cure-all to everything that ails us. It’s absolutely better for the environment than petrol-powered cars, but just like everything else, comes with its own issues. Metal mining is going to explode in the next 5-10 years as battery

Sure! Turn it into basically a motorcycle? Two wheels and nearly 400hp between your legs?

Absolutely amazing. Gives you quite the feel for how fast these cars are - something that gets lost when watching modern F1. It truly feels fast, and you have to be in awe at the reaction times. I would’ve binned it by the first turn, if I could have even gotten it into gear
