I’d reckon you could get between 1/3rd and 1/4th of this car.

4.9, regardless of size, still seems a bit slow! The M340i has a similar engine and manages to get there a full second quicker, with a curb weight of almost 3900lbs. This is a disappointingly slow car for something with “AMG” in the name.
I think they looked at the business case of pulling the money for these out of their marketing budget because they’re basically just rolling ads. It’s like high street/premiere location shops that Louis Vuitton or Gucci run (like in Times Square, or Fifth Avenue, or the Champs Elysees). Nobody buys ANYTHING from those…
I mean, I get that the point is to drum up good PR about environmentally friendly vehicle etc etc but other than that this seems like a pretty impractical endeavor.
What are they gonna deliver? Half of the packages I get on a daily basis?
Bless up, fam.
Every race doubles as a Daft Punk concert.
Paul Ricard. I didn’t even wake up for that race last year. It’s a mess to watch, too. Yawn.

I’ve never heard the term “celery to peanut butter ratio”, but I am adding it to my lexicon.
Since no one else is brave enough to say it, I will. Bullitt. That movie was miserably boring. It’s 2 hours of a car handling badly around San Francisco.
This is just unimaginable to me. I realize I’m very privileged having grown up traveling overseas, but the idea that someone (an adult) would legitimately be frightened of going to a nearby city is incomprehensible.
They’re afraid to use the bathrooms in DC because they might be full of trans antifa swamp lobbyists that will try to take their guns and freedoms away.
I’m still traumatized by being stuck in 4 hours of standstill traffic on 395 a few years ago and having to pee SO BAD. From then on out, I kept an empty bottle in the car, you know...just in case. Because that’s what DC traffic is like. What on earth are these truckers even complaining about? Some of us used to deal…
The Convoy did submit a permit to protest directly in D.C., but it was partially denied.
I’ll say it…I don’t have a problem with the 996 and I think it’s been unfairly maligned. I was cross-shopping a 997 S and a 996 Turbo, and even though the interior looked “dated” at first, I actually started PREFERRING the look of the 996 after test driving it. I think it just looks more unique, and has more…
Other than pilot error/action, what else could cause such a steep descent? A complete failure of the stabilizer/trim system?
Oh I’m 100% sure you’re right. It’s just disappointing, I guess. The write-up on The Drive was much more thorough. Shit, I’d do a write-up of each race for Jalopnik for free. I’m not a sports writer, but I have a dissertation under my belt, and I watch all the races and qualis.
The quality of the writing (which feels like a high schooler wrote it), plus the glaring omissions, is par for the course at Jalopnik nowadays. I’m not sure what I was expecting clicking on this article.
