I was supposed to head on a business trip (IAD - BNA), relatively short flight. Nobody would give up their seat and the guy that was trying to get in the flight was Global Services, so they offered $1500 to anyone that would get off the flight. I was in 1A, so I shot my hand up, handed my documents to my underling

Honestly people look at it both ways - if you look at your car as a white good, something to get you from point a to point b, then yes, absolutely buy a car you hate that you can later sell for a higher price, or lose less money on when you have to offload it. Most people that aren’t car people do this. I’ve bought

Precisely this - I live in the middle of Capitol Hill in DC and I would love a Model X or maybe even a Taycan…but I have nowhere to charge it. Despite having a home, both Mrs Hobbes and I street park, and there’s no street parking charging infrastructure. We have no intention of leaving the city, so we’re kinda

Literally what I’ve been saying up top! If you were in the market for a G-wagen, this would be a pretty decent setup.

Maroon 1993 Buick Lesabre with the velour seats. My first car as 16 year old. Plenty of room in the back seat for surreptitious after-church makeout sessions with the girlfriend. Drove the living bejesus out of it for 8 years (even though it was already 10 years old), even put a cold air intake and exhaust tips on it,

I think the market would disagree with you. Something’s worth is whatever people are willing to pay for it, and AMG versions of this car go for around this, or more, so therefore the car is “worth” $95,000, and actually probably more.

I’d say that unlike 90% of SUVs and crossovers out there, this one actually can walk the walk. This one in particular even has beefier tires instead of idiotic low-profile tires meant for the street. All in this is not the worst example of a G Wagen.

Well I certainly wouldn’t ever purchase an SUV because I think they’re stupid and I don’t have any children or crap to lug around. That doesn’t mean that an SUV priced competitively compared against other SUVs in its class is no dice. I guarantee you someone could snag this at the seller’s asking price and turn around

Also bonus points towards NP because it’s not wrapped in the idiotic matte black I always see these in around my area.

Remember, this is nice price or no dice, not “do I like this particular car or not”, which is what I see in the comments mostly.

THAT’S TOAST

Tell me you’re American without telling me you’re American. You know people from other parts of the world read and interact with this website, right? You know that saying you need a massive 3 row SUV for your 1.9 children is the most comically American thing in the world?

It doesn’t even make sense, MR2s are expensive nowadays! I got mine on BaT 5 or 6 years ago for $7k, but nowadays they’re going for double that at least. Nothing about this makes sense. Y0u can get an R8 for low $60k...why would anyone pay over a third of that for this abomination?

I have a 93 MR2 Turbo and this offends me deeply. Why would you do this to a perfectly good MR2??

A completely restored 91 MR2 Turbo, an Audi S3 Sportback, a Zero SR/S, and a Macan S, if you’re asking. More than enough fun for me across those options, along with a mid engine rear wheel drive toy as well as a front wheel drive toy. Nothing wrong with a Corvette, it’s just very...of a certain type of person. Usually

I found the boomer. Probably drives a Corvette with chrome accents and wheels.

Also, just to be clear, the movie (and the book it’s based on) is a cautionary tale about the surveillance state and the limits of free will - when everyone is telling an individual that they will commit a crime, that individual (regardless of having thought they would commit a crime) will start fitting into the mold

This type of system is used extensively where I live, in DC, to closely monitor individuals that the system predicts will be likely to commit crimes - as per the article, “Person-based predictive policing, on the other hand, attempts to identify individuals or groups who are likely to commit a crime — or to be

Predictive policing is absolutely a thing that has gained traction in the last 10 years, see this report from the Brennan Center for Justice.

Nobody mentioned the Lexus 2054 from Minority Report?? Probably one of the most prescient Sci-Fi books/films of the last 20 years.
