I bought the first year of the MkV GTI. It was an amazing car, but it was in the shop all the time with all sorts of problems. When it worked, though, it was a thing of beauty.

I had a 7 hour drive from Buffalo to DC in a 91 MR2 I just purchased. There were exactly zero cupholders in the whole car. This was...annoying. I could not comfortably taste the sweet nectar of road trips, 20oz Sugar Free Red Bulls.
Awesome! Any tips or learnings from your year with it? Feel free to email me, as well. Would love to hear your thoughts. Rmusca at gmail.
This is insane. I just bought a near perfect 91 MR2 Turbo on BaT for $8500. This is not 35k better than that.
I had a GTI with plaid seats. They were fantastic. Great colour, didn’t get too hot in the summers. I’m in favour of more cloth colours, textures, and patterns! Why does everything have to be leather in high end cars?
Is it wrong to think that this exhaust...doesn’t sound quite that good?
When my insurance company asked if my car had an anti-theft device, I replied with “yes - a manual transmission.”
Woohoo! Thanks for posting the tip, Tom. Happy to see there was an article about it. This loan term was CRAZY.
These are a goddamn eyesore and nuisance in DC. They’re with littered all over sidewalks, blocking walking paths, or being ridden on sidewalks (way too fast) or in bike lanes (way too slow and in a completely absentminded manner by most). These ought to be banned.
This headline just rolls off the tongue.
1) Why are these not just sent to the scrapyard? Surely nobody will buy them.
Have driven a similar road in Phoenix in a Model S and it had difficulty when there were vague lines painted on light colored concrete on the highway - car was trying to autopilot itself straight into the divider, just like this.
What’s their play now? All along they’ve said the ultimate goal is lowering costs by removing humans from the taxi equation. Partner with Waymo (ha!)? Buy a competitor? Continue burning through money and be bought out?
I drove a Model X for a few days around Phoenix. I had it in autopilot on the highway in the left most lane. There was a turn coming up, with jersey-style barriers on the left. There weren’t clear lane markings, but it was obvious where the road was going. The car started to turn right along with the lane, but then…
Let’s see if it pays off for them
Sadly, as a video producer that makes films for clients to use on social, I now film expressly for portrait consumption . It’s just how people view videos on their phones now.
These were a lifesaver when I was in Tokyo in December. Cheap, good, convenient. The snacks were awesome AND the atms took foreign debit cards.
Yeah...who (that has an office job) laves right at 5? Even when I was a bank teller in college, we’d still have to close up and lock up the vault and wouldn’t actually leave until 530 at the earliest.
