Right! I don't think people understand that a little exercise goes a long, long way. I've done athletic training before and that can straight up ruin your body and stress your adrenals to the point that you really do mess up your metabolism for a while.

Yep. One of the cornerstones of this particular "discipline" is "toxin elimination" and "weight loss." According to every brochure and over-enthusiastic Bikram teacher or student I've ever met.
I think it's a seductive myth probably because when people who haven't done too much exercise suddenly start, they lose a bit of water weight and they associate that with being hot and sweaty.

It's not that great for you (regular ol sweating of any kind is very good for the system, but the heat can be tough on your body. I've seen people faint.)
