Other than Blackfish (which I thought was very good), I haven't had a chance to check any of these out. Sounds like I'm going to have some catching up to do in the next few weeks.

Well, last year they nominated "Les Mis." And that was only one of those things!

I haven't seen the Pussy Riot documentary and so I don't know if it is actually any good or not. But it would be an interesting/confrontational choice given the timing of awards season and the upcoming Olympics in Sochi.

Exactly! I remember reading these stories together as a family WHILE CAMPING, being absolutely terrified, and also that it is one of my favorite family vacation memories.

That's my take on it. And that's also one of the things I love about Batman - Batman's real folklore-like flexibility as a character. I mean before this we already had Adam West and Frank Miller Batmans - pretty much as far opposite as you can get. I like how different actors/writers/directors/etc. put their spin on

Ah, the mysteries of faith.

Great take on the movie. I'd never given much thought of the Specific Christmasyness (to coin a phrase I guess) of "Batman Returns" before, but it makes perfect sense. Island of Misfit Toys indeed.

If they wanted to force this kind of narrative into a historical setting, why not Richard Lionheart and Saladin? By all accounts they actually did have a bromance going.

Remember when I told you I'd teach you civility and basic public decency? I lied.

I have a feeling I am going to end up as more of an innocent peasant/villager type.

This description also works (horrifyingly) well for doctors. Certain specialties anyway.

Did you try turning the page off and turning it back on again?

I've never really thought of "Irreversible" as having much of a commentary on public transit policy, but then again that's why I come here. Fresh perspectives.

The octopus is his [REDACTED]

The virus is known in medical quarters as "McTiernan's Revenge."

I would too. There's actual chemistry on College Game Day that he might be able to play off of. Having him just tee off a "six pack of questions" on SportsCenter probably won't do much of anything.

Seriously. What about that chipmunk that got squashed? Where's his petition?

As a kid this always bothered/fascinated me. He's this powerful, feared gangster but he can't even get to the fridge himself to get more of those frog-things he likes to eat.

Oh man! Then we can do a Council of Nicaea episode with people arguing over steam engine dogma! I'm going to start writing this today.

Well the second concept allows for an episode where like, they re-invent the steam engine, and some people are scared of the steam engine, and there are pro-and-anti steam engine factions that square off against each other and one character has to make a HORRIBLE choice about whether or not to embrace the steam
