The only one I love more than O Canada is La Marseillaise. GODDAMN that anthem gets me pumped up. I wanna go charging across a field with my sword held up high whenever I hear it.

Wanna hear 16,000 Canadian hockey fans sing *both* anthems? (Also wanna hear 16,000 Oilers fans just about ready to tear the building down? God I miss Northlands.) Plus there’s a Joey Moss cameo.

That was wonderful. But I do have to admit a bit of perverse joy looking back on that night and knowing that all the anticipation and hope in that building for Game 7 during that song would eventually turn into this:

It’ll never give me the feels that the Banner does, but seriously, it’s just a great anthem. Every time it gets to the “the True North strong and free” line, chills abound. Any time I’m at an NHL game with a Canadian team playing as well and it’s anthem time, I strap in for 4 minutes of the good shit.
