GOP establishment: *too stupid, lazy and woman-hating to read the book*
Hm. I see where you might get that from the comment, but no where did it say “white people can’t be a part of the critique of black culture and the violence agains black people.” I read it as that commenter thinking that you perhaps do not have enough of a grasp/understanding to comment (I am summarizing an opinion,…
Agreed. At the same time, she is also a modern artist and I think a lot of her critique was also performance (as mentioned in the article). So I will take it with a bit of a grain of salt.
You also seem to be missing the point with most of these commenters: We don’t necessarily agree with that, but we do agree that whatever Schultz is presenting here is tone-deaf and inappropriate. There is nuance here that you seem to be missing.
Sure. I mean, I don’t think anyone is really arguing that people who aren’t Black can’t comment or make art about these things. See the Norman Rockwell painting of Ruby Bridges as a good example of this. Most of us are just disgusted at the way Schultz did it - it doesn’t seem like she really understands what she is…
Um, yeah, and his really good friend is the black gay man who wrote the original play and who worked closely with him on the screenplay. Which they both won an Academy Award for.
I think the Rockwell painting is a great example of why Schultz’s is so unsuccessful, actually. Look at Bridges in this painting - she is undeniably the subject, she is portrayed as innocent, yet precocious, and very brave. The white men flanking her appear protective, but they also are anonymous and perhaps a little…
You seem to be conveniently forgetting that Emmett Till’s murder and Mamie’s subsequent decision to have an open casket and tell the story was one of the pivotal moments of the Civil Rights movement. We are all effected by what happened, and we all should have an emotional connection to it.
Kay?
I mean, it’s not like I’m arguing he shouldn’t go to prison. I’m just pointing out that him going to prison doesn’t mean he won’t have the opportunity to do more harm.
I think your point is probably a valid one, but your examples don’t really pan out. Oscar Isaacs was an Academy-Award-nominated actor who was also signed on to do Ex Machina when he got the role in Star Wars.
John Boyega had been in Attack The Block, a few episodes of Law and Order, and a few episodes of 24. Love the…
Nope, I think you are confusing two sentences. He said he hopes War Machine gets raped an killed in prison (“Cue the “I don’t usually, but in this case...” about the death penalty and prison rape.”) and also that he hopes his ex’s ex kills himself (no mention of rape).
It appears that War Machine at least threatened to kill him, and may have also taken his phone. I believe another article also stated that he was knocked out for a large part of the night.
Except, you know, the other people in prison. Many of whom I would hope would be able to spend their time on rehabilitation and not... you know... getting assaulted regularly.
God I love Fargo.
Yeah, that would be really nice. Fingers crossed, I guess?
I definitely know that that is part of it. But it also doesn’t seem like there is any effort to find the hackers or shore up privacy in the least. Which I find telling.
I have passed away suddenly.
Nude pics leak of Vanessa Hudgens, Hayden Panettiere, Gabriel Union, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Victoria Justice, Krysten Ritter, McKayla Maroney (under 18 when taken!!), Arianna Grande, Kirsten Dunst, Lea Michelle, Kaley Cuocco and Brie Larson (to name a few).
Nothing really happens…
Yeah, but his face is still beat to high heavens when he’s on the show out of drag, to be fair. I like his freckles :)
