Yes! That line NEVER sat right with me. I was actually working in the collateral protection insurance industry when that movie came out, and so I know for a fact that if he was still making payments, he was required to have comp & collision on that truck.

I can only think of one:

Seems like a much more elaborate version of some of the stuff Cap’n Crunch did in the 80's. Hmm...I wonder if I still have that map of Crunch Island somewhere...

Another McRib article? I am much more interested in your take on the McChicken Biscuit/Chicken McGriddles they just put out...

Huh, I don’t see any comments about snuff. People snorted crap to dull their sense of smell. That’s why you only see ‘antique’ snuff-boxes any more. I suspect they pretty much stopped making them after the TV started reminding everyone that they smelled.

I had it for the first time a couple months ago while visiting some in-laws near Grand Rapids (Founders’ home town). I about sqeee’d when I then saw a 4-pack of it at my local Binny’s a couple weeks later. A bit more on-topic, I also discovered a truly amazing lambic - Kriek Boon (I THINK that’s the brand)

I discovered that this summer - it’s stunningly good.

I genuinely miss that sandwich. The Quarter-Pounder deluxe just isn’t quite the same for some reason.

Almost Human should have been a half-hour sitcom consisting entirely of Michael Ealy and Karl Urban driving to the various crime scenes. Every line of dialogue in that squad car was just delightful.

The most fun I had at any movie this summer was Dora and the Lost City of Gold. I went to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood the day before, and Dora was a 96-minute balm for my soul...

While I agree with your overall point on Titanic’s run-time, I think the real beginning of this trend was Braveheart.

Ms. Cills, please keep writing these types of articles. Only continual education and constant reinforcement can help otherwise intelligent individuals from falling for these people’s schitck. They are scum, preying on the naive and emotionally vulnerable.

Right!? Erica Jong is one of the last people I would ever want to start beef with. I would lose.

As I understand it now, they ate everything that the catfish would have normally lived on, and so they were basically starved out by the invasive species.

Yup, some people tried this in a private lake near where I grew up. They were supposed to eat the weeds that would overbloom every summer. Within a year, the carp had pretty much overrun the lake. Barely even a bluegill or sunfish to be caught, let alone the once-plentiful catfish there. And the seaweed never seemed

While I REALLY don’t want Joe to run, I have to disagree with you here - I actually think he is a completely sincere unctuous glad-hander...

Me neither, but I DO wear Vans...

I have settled on Tullamore Dew as my go-to Irish Whiskey, but enjoy Writer’s Tears as well (it helps that my buddy and I are ‘aspiring’ writers ourselves). Current fav is definitely the Tullamore Caribbean cask - sweet Irish whiskey with a woody rum finish, it’s just friggin’ delightful.

My kids are teenagers now, so this aspect is slightly less relevant. I’m much, much more interested to know when those movies unlikely to ever be put on BluRay will be on Disney+ - “No Deposit, No Return”; “Herbie Goes Bananas”, “Dean Jones Buys a Ski Resort” (might have the title wrong on that one), and all the short

Similar - I have finally hit the point where the money isn’t worth my emotional well-being (and have the same difficulty explaining this to some groups of people).

Good luck with your own move - hope you enjoy the sabbatical!
