Apparently I’m not the only one. No Man’s Sky director Sean Murray tweeted on Saturday that he’d also received death threats for the crime of delaying his game a few weeks. Fans of the game—really, fans of the game’s marketing—have been loud, passionate, and angry.

Yep - all my general health paranoia is magnified when the thought of putting something on top of my eyeball comes into the picture. No thanks, pass me some glasses.

To me, the new ones are well worth a shot, because leveling isn’t tedious any longer.

maybe make it a thing that’s only available in offline mode?

I hate to be that guy but just because you hate something doesn’t make it ‘hipster.’

I forgot - we also did an escort (and won) with a full Lucio crew. Nothing says hilarity like 6 ults chained together and just running out the clock.

Lemme see...

Aw, I was on PC!

Was that us?

In their last grasp to placate tech fetishists by becoming ‘stupid PCs,’ consoles have finally killed themselves.

I wonder what would’ve happened had they tried a tone truer with the game, and maybe scale it back to a more focused story of just 2-3 main characters...

Yeah, I feel like that’s the element that’s still being learned/sussed out. You make a great point that this game has repeatedly encouraged a ‘play everyone’ approach. Since you can only change at the base (and the best way to get there is dying), a fear of death is something players need to get past.

Not that I know of, but when I level and get a box, and it has a dupe, it just turns into in-game currency. So on the basest level, you’ll never end up with a useless drop.

I’m right there with you! I played part of the first chapter on Hurt Me Plenty, and moved it to Ultra Violence when that felt too forgiving.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if they do it though?

One thing I’ve noticed is that teams on the offensive for capturing points tend to hover around it, too afraid to get in as a group and try to inch some capture progress along.

I’m playing on PC and so far it’s been fine. Only rarely did I run into someone who decided to use voice and type chat to boss everyone around. But no real ample swearing, harassment, or anything.

.99 cents per box might seem cheap, but once you start, there’s no going back. Take it from me. It’s been less than 24 hours and I’ve already spent 10 additional dollars on loot boxes. :(

A few thoughts

It’s so easy for writers to fall into the routine of telling only stories about people who act and think like them.
