Being gay isn’t a choice for most people (based on most evidence) but it can be for some. Even if it were a choice for all gay and bi people it would still be as valid as being straight. (this is a pet peeve of mine.

Black republicans are confusing. Political parties aren’t just meaningless colored hats.
I too have family who passed from time to time. I’ve been asked if I’m mixed (I’m brown-skinned not light, though— )
I’ve traced my folks back as far as possible and I have 16 black great grandparents who came in shades from pale to walnut. I’m not mixed at all! Yet, I must be mixed. How far back? It was after 1600…
What is “biological race” ?
That’s a very low bar you have for not being fucked up.
Her parents could be lying about being totally white.
I don’t want to go on if that’s where this is going.
link?
the man isn’t the one on trial.
Women are quite good at compartmentalizing these things too. The issue centers around lying. Part of that lie is hiding the fact that one sees thier spouse as less sexual (so incomplete) and “needs” a person to cheat with (who is also an incomplete person) if this fact were no big deal why hide it? I think there are…
It’s not just that most people are bad at evaluating risk based on statistics, most people are bad at using statistics including newspapers. MRAs seem to overestimate their knowledge of statistics. I think this might happen because they buy into the notion that men are intrinsically better at math and science.
the comment was about what MRAs might do it was not about men in general.
“Statistics do by there nature mean something”
I agree. Though the NAACP has been ineffective at connecting with young activists who have been fighting police brutality— It has lost a lot of its luster which is sad.
That a chapter was being run by a white woman is almost like a punchline.
I’m a black woman so I’m talking about myself here. Your comment seems to assume otherwise. Cultural appropriation is not the big issue here. I do find the box braids to be a bit offensive if she is lying as her mother implies... but having that hair texture is just very pretty and not suspect except given the context…
I’m not saying that. Suburbs, hood ... they are both a part of the black experience. It’s diverse (I grew up in the suburbs ... so....)
But the genetics thing? a huge source of pseudoscience—
It’s not the genes it’s the heritage, family history and life experiences. Genes do a poor job of defining race as it’s commonly understood
Ill and wrong? I think she has a cute look for a woman of any race. The lies just baffle me.
Passing as white and “passing” (if it can even be called that) as black are not equivalent in any way. I can see how she got away with it because I would never ask a light-skinned woman “are you really black?” it’s far too…
Do we know for certain her mom is being honest about this?
I’m black and she looks like my black cousins.
