It’s not a great movie, but Sliding Doors shows two parallel stories of how the protagonist’s life develops after she does/doesn’t make it onto a train.

Sometimes animals get sick (just like people - weird, I know!) and can’t make it to the litter box or outside in time. Shit happens. This is literally the perfect example of “shit happens”.

Even the best controlled animal will still on rare occasion poop. Maybe they’re sick. Maybe the person you asked to walk them didn’t. Maybe the dog was constipated and couldn’t go when you walked them, but was able to in the middle of the night.

Had this happen to me. My cat shits in the litter box but ended up shitting on the carpet because he was sick. Roomba ran it over and smeared it all over itself and the carpet. Not much I could have done while at work but I’ve never used it again.
