I like Dresden too. Just finished Side Jobs, which I really enjoyed.
The Lord moves in mysterious ways. So they lose the game (teaching humility), and get into the playoffs (rewarding the faithful).
I think the YA books are, if anything, more mature.
Time travel, as explained by Ridcully in Last Continent (Discworld)in response to the question, "Can we tread on any ants or not":
I got the Kindle Fire when it released, and on week 3 it froze and died, looping back to restarting over and over again. And here's my major gripe with Amazon...their customer service is nonexistent. If I'd been able to solve the problem with tech support or customer service, or found someone on their message boards…
I liked CA up through his creation, but once he was actually fighting? And his ridiculous nemesis? Just awful. Consider: villain has secret strongholds that are humongous, superior technology and firepower, and he loses every single time to a group that reminded me of the French Resistance from Top Secret. …
That is so cool, I had no idea they had metallic versions available. Maybe when our new one breaks we'll splurge on that one.
Read the comments to that ridiculous article, about 95% disagree. Get the Bodum Brazil if you're still willing to give it a go. It's cheap and effective.
Skyrim! I hit level 40 and finally feel I'm hitting my stride as a mage. I've got Lydia as a tank, and conjuration/illusion as favored schools of magic. Here's my setup: Flame Atronarch, muffle, ebony skin, call to arms, conjure bow. I sneak , shoot things with conjured bow while hidden, and if they see me my…
french presses are awesome, but you need to grind your own beans. Bodum french press, and a burr mill grinder, that's my morning, every morning.
I use one. I have seasonal allergies, and using one (and taking Claritin-D) is the only way I avoid a major sinus infection. Otherwise, bring on the antibiotics!
We had a Bodum press but the glass cracked twice in a few months, so we're trying a different brand...but the filter doesn't fit as well. Anyone have a recommendation for Best French Press Ever!"?
We use a french press (the four cup version which is two mugs of coffee). Question: how much coffee should we be grinding? I've been grinding an ounce for each pot of coffee...too much, too little, or just right?
It's the first time this has happened. I clicked on the article, and it showed me a commercial ad and said it would show me the article in 30 seconds. Now, I've had this happen with videos on some websites, but for an article? Firsties, and not a pleasant experience.
This story will display in 30 seconds?!? Really? I think I'm done.
I totally loved high school. Middle school was my personal Hell. You go away for a summer and all of a sudden your elementary school friends were groping each other, two feet taller than you were, had suddenly discovered knives/cigarettes/afterschool fights...and meanwhile I'm going, really? We don't do birthday…
Judging from the trajectory, I'd be less worried about the arrow and more where the arrow originated from.
"We had a nice conversation over dinner. I don't think I'm being delusional in saying this statement."
