OK but Bigfoot is real tho.

Why wouldn’t this fall under fair use? It isn’t a parody but it’s commenting upon/criticizing the work.

My cousin was a repeat drunk driver. He spent years without a license and even some time in jail. What eventually stopped him? A drug and alcohol program where he confronted his addiction issues. I’m not saying that he shouldn’t have received those other punishments, just that they didn’t really work, and were often

I think this speaks to one of the things people have said about her; that she’s absolutely fired up and a totally different person when she’s talking policy and substance, compared to campaigning. Politico had an interesting article on this from someone who’d reported on her both when she was Secretary of State and on

Do you not?

Some people are allergic to vaccines and they don’t get them after doctors realize there is an allergy. Nobody has ever denied that an individual can have an allergic reaction to a vaccine. That’s partly why herd immunity is so important. Some people can’t get vaccinated and they rely on everyone else doing so.

My gut says there’s no way that’s right. 5th Circuit’s page limit is 30 pages, with reply briefs at a 15 page limit, so even if Mother Jones was talking about combined briefing they’re still 30 pages over what it could be. My guess is that it was 76 pages including some extra exhibits, maybe + cover pages,

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Five years for what he did! The rest because he tried to run!

People say that rape accusations are treated more favorably than other crimes, but I’m more concerned about car theft reports. Like, if someone says I stole their car, the police just assume that because I have their car, I must have stolen it, even with zero evidence! Does anyone ever consider that maybe these people

It’s delightful. He sent out a request to a company asking to buy fetal tissue from them, in what he clearly thought would be a sting.

I think the idea is that the Feds will provide subsidies for supplementary contraception-only insurance.

Whoa in the blowholes? Did not know that one.

Also, something that these people seem to forget is that there are NUMEROUS examples of animals that can change biological sex, soooo....argument invalid!

I went and read the actual decision linked in the article and it might make you feel a bit better to know that that quote is actually taken pretty badly out of context. While I still think the judge is totally wrong, he actually is very clear to qualify his statement. The full paragraph is:

As much as the judge’s other statements are atrocious (especially the one about the “stereotype” of sexual assaults being truthful, which, uggggggghhhhhhhhh), the reasonable doubt one is a fair statement of law and the way that criminal trials should operate. If you think it’s very likely the defendant is guilty but

The animal thing is so great.

Colonialism: conquering the majority of the planet for spices, then creating the blandest food on the planet.

I think you could do it without changing the law, just as a creative interpretation of the interplay of Faretta/Edwards and Maryland v. Craig (which it turns out is the name of the case I was thinking of that says child sex abuse victims can testify by closed circuit television) in a test case with perfect facts.

The Court does not have the power to force the defendant to be represented by an attorney in criminal cases (the right to self-representation is viewed as sort of a corollary to the right to counsel) unless the defendant is found incompetent to represent himself (and “incompetence to represent himself” is a different
