So there are two aspects of spousal privilege : communication and testimonial. You are correct that the spouse of the accused is the holder of testimonial privilege. I agree it’s very unlikely to warrant criminal charges. But there should be some heavy disciplinary action. I’ve since learned that the jail had policies to prevent inmate suicide attempts, and the guards on duty ignored them. As I said...I’m watching to see what the authority’s reaction is.

I don’t need to educate myself about mental illness. What I mean by “she did this to herself” is that no other person did this to her. I don’t blame victims of suicide, that is not my stance. I have compassion for anyone believing that suicide is the only option - you have to be in a terrible state to think that.
