Loved Series 7. At the time I thought that if anyone actually saw the thing, it would kill off reality TV. What can I say, I was young and optimistic.

Agreed, although Wendy was a full party to going in on the cartel money laundering in the first place—it’s one of the key differences between this show and Breaking Bad. I think it’s less revenge and more that she’s found the situation an unexpected opportunity for growth, albeit a rather frightening variety of…
That is correct. The Rockets never got into the studio—The Day the Earth Met The Rocket From The Tombs is rehearsal tapes and live tracks. I don’t even think there’s a proper demo in the mix. But I still prefer the Rockets version to the Pere Ubu or Dead Boys version of every song except for Sonic Reducer.
My first run-in with Millar outside of Superman: Red Sun (which I’ve heard Grant Morrison supplied the ending to) was Jupiter’s Legacy. I really liked the first issue, and the girl at the comic shop told me “Yeah, me too. Hopefully it won’t become like everything else he does.” I asked her what she meant, and she said…
And the shoulda-been-huge All Mighty Senators, plus Lake Trout, who were great before they decided they’d like to become the poor person’s Radiohead.
Yes to Sonic Youth, with Thurston Moore being such a colossal dick about it that it’s kind of soured me on checking out his solo music.
That’s about what I expected from the trailer. Still could be fun, I may go see it if my movie slate doesn’t get too crowded.
Agreed on the genuine threat to them, but since it’s not getting through, I thought the image of “. . .coming to you live from the 2027 National Gay Pride Parade in downtown Wichita” might do the trick.
I catalog Kanopy records for my library. It truly is amazing what they have.
It’s not how I’d like the problem to be solved, but has anyone pointed out to the denying dipshits of “Real America” that if the coastal cities drown, all the libruls that live in them will become their new neighbors?
A writing prof of mine once described Finnegan’s Wake thusly:
“You try to read it, and you can’t read it. So you get a Gaelic dictionary and copies of all the annotations and read what Joyce said about it in interviews, and you go in with all that so you can make sense out of it. Halfway through, the book ends. Then it…
Who would’ve guessed Kid Rock would grow up to bear a striking resemblance to Captain Beefheart?
That is an epic goatee to be sure.
ROBIN HOOD LESS COMMERCIAL BULLSEYE THAN COMMERCIAL BULLSHIT, PRODUCERS GREEN WITH ENVY OVER SUCCESS OF WRECK-IT RALPH
Hey, at least this dopey new Robin Hood is a little more fun than the last one
Where can they print that?!
As a cataloging librarian, I approve this post.
It’s not news, either. At the beginning of Fear & Loathing On the Campaign Trail ‘72 (sadly, still the only book on American politics you need to read), Thompson specifically calls out the Washington press corps for their relationship with the people they cover and mentions how he plans to be one and done, and can…
I look forward to her directing a gonzo sci-fi musical.
Count me as someone who likes actual Monae as much as the idea of Monae. I do like Electric Lady and ArchAndroid better than Dirty Computer, but I still think it’s a killer record. And she’s a fantastic actress. Seeing her in Moonlight when she hadn’t broken musical character yet was crazy.
