Agree with the last part but according to Ford’s website the Coyote is 445lbs *dry* http://fordperformanceracingparts.com/parts/part_det… . You’re looking at close to 500lbs fully dressed, or you know, a quarter of the weight of a new Miata.
I’m willing to bet once you find out how much it weighs and its physical dimensions it would quickly come off that list. LS all the things...
No, just no. That reply shows you have little to no knowledge of how weapon targeting/guidance works or satellites for that matter. On top of the fact that no, a near miss won’t sink a ship because the DF-21 is believed to have a very small warhead if it even has one at all. China bills it as a “kinetic” weapon…
No satellite in the world (or above it) is capable of providing terminal guidance for a ballistic missile. Even U.S. NRO sats which are far and away more capable than their Chinese or Russian counterparts. Just one of many reasons why the ASBM is a pipe dream.
DF-21 is the biggest capability myth out there. Anyone with decent knowledge of weapon targeting will draw the same conclusion, its not possible.
Your third point is absolutely ridiculous.
I’m interning there, and when my friends ask where I work I say “Canadian company, we design and build the Ford GT.” Sounds way better than “Auto supplier, I fuck around on CAD all day”
I doubt it. The 170 is only used for denied airspace and by using it over the South China Sea you're basically acknowledging that someone else, in this case China has domain over that airspace. We probably want them to know we're watching in the case of the Global Hawks.
You obviously haven’t been to Deutschland.
Completely agree with your third sentence. Hell, even the Viper pilot Tyler interviewed on here said the IRST was garbage and the Archer was overrated on the Luftwaffe Mig-29’s he got the chance to fly.
That is 100% not the reason why OEM’s are moving towards electronic parking brakes. Its because locating a button within a cabin is easier than locating a big handle. I miss having one is my ATS but also love having more usable space than my Saab.
Its always been comforting to me that the sentiment expressed on this site is almost never reflected in sales numbers... Looks better inside and out, lighter, and will still be faster than the comparable Mustang. Moving on.
Not when you consider all of the platforms it replaces. Between 1983 and 1988 we spent more on the F-16, F/A-18, AV-8, and A-10 in 2015 dollars than we currently spend on the F-35 with a smaller federal budget. At the height of their acquisition in 1987 those programs made up slightly over 3% of the federal budget.
Tyler, I’ve been posting on FA since its inception, can I get ungrayed? :) Also, I think its worth mentioning that while the STOVL characteristics of the F-35 don’t seem like a big departure from that of the AV-8B it is indeed a quantum leap. The max takeoff weight of an AV-8 is less than the empty weight of a F-35B…
It can carry standoff weapons in the form of the AGM-158, AGM-154, and eventually the SDB I and II. Also, the AIM-120 and AIM-9X are considered the preeminent BVR and short range air to air missiles in the world. Finally, the portion of your tax bill paying for the F-35 is indeed trivial. Assuming your money is spread…
I like it a lot but everyone who said the Z06 looks tacky better have the same thoughts on this thing. As long as it's in the name of performance I don't mind.
