They just upgraded the gas service in Portland ME with new, higher-pressure lines and meters. Suspect something similar recently went on in Lawrence, just an hour south of us, and something has gone wrong with the new service calibration?

I’m sure it was some failsafe that well...failed and no one bothered to actually test it to see if it would work because it’s been fine for the last 15yrs! I bet the person in charge of maintaining it checked the box that they inspected it though.

Columbia Gas was depressurizing their lines, according to CNN. Some neighborhoods where the smell of gas was present were being evacuated.

This has to be a huge infrastructure failure along a gas main and its branches. I’m guessing overpressure to have so many failures in such a short time. Possibly blowing the regulators going into the buildings.

That’s why he shouldn’t have that much money to begin with. A heavy tax on anything above a million a year would probably help with this issue in the future.

Precisely. After his debacle with unilaterally and single-handedly shutting down a very popular bill that would address exceedingly serious issues in Seattle, I feel like that’s the standard of Citizens United being evil.

It is certainly not liquid cash at hand assets.

His net worth is essentially his stock in Amazon. He doesn’t actually have access to nearly that amount of money. If he were to liquidate his entire position in Amazon it would have drastic effects.

I don’t condone greed, but I also am not one who thinks it’s my job to tell Jeff Bezos what to do with his money.

I take it to mean if the liquidated all his assets, sold everything he had, he would be worth $163 billion. Some of that money is tied up in property, stock shares, and rich things I’ve probably never heard of.

I’m not surprised Woodard protected a domestic abuser at all. High level sources are more important than the truth.

Oh my god, I’m glad you’re addressing this shit.  The explorer and that damn Taurus ALWAYS has me on edge.

This.

I’m not sure if there are “official” levels to it but I can to spot a cruiser just by the way the headlights look lol. It also helps that in D.C. the blue lights on top of the cruisers are always on. So they are easy to spot.

Are you dead?
No

Woodward doesn’t do secondhand sources or single-source reporting, so anything he couldn’t verify about Porter got left out.

The guy hit a home run 50 years ago, and he has been begging for a repeat performance ever since. Go away already.

There’s that, and Woodward is old so it’s even more likely he’s of the generation that thinks personal stuff like this isn’t relevant. But more than that, do you think Porter would have agreed to be one of Woodward’s main sources without demanding something in return?

Same shit as the allegations that Richard Nixon beat the shit out of Pat Nixon; barely worthy of notice for Important Journalists Talking About Important Things To Do With The Nation.
