“Mandatory licensing for owners, registering them. Mandatory train for every purchase. Yearly taxes for every firearm owned”
This crooked, myopic Republican congress has continuously *bragged* about blocking things, just to make Obama look bad.
Screw them.
It takes someone with experience to produce results; especially to get a twofer like antagonizing fussy babies and limiting gun deaths at the same time.
British, slender, seems well mannered, the voice (for Benedict Cucumber). Those traits easily swooned women to your lap.
[or Oscar]
I agree with you. However, given how clueless Hollywood is, it works ironically for Ken Burns to narrate this documentary. And would probably be the only way the movie could get made. Because Hollywood is myopic.
To be fair, Jamie Foxx played someone legendary. Even with his struggles, the film did a good job portraying Ray Charles as a well-rounded person who eventually triumphed over addiction. But for the rest...right on the money.
I agree with your general idea, though I think Ray Charles was about as complimentary as most musician movies are. The addiction just made it more dramatic.
Swap out Ken Burns for Morgan Freeman and I’m in. Burns shouldn’t be allowed near a documentary about race after his romanticized horseshit on the Civil War.
“...there might be a growing perception that the academy is out of touch.”
Don’t forget that the main white lady needs to be under 30, as long as the guy is still under 60.
I was just going to say this. It’s not about token nominations (God, I hope that doesn’t become a thing), but about fixing the industry itself and allow more diverse projects to be made, so that actors of different backgrounds can have a real shot at being nominated for real, and not just to fill up a slot. For that…
BUT they all speak with British accents to indicate that it’s set in parts exotic!
Everyone will be too busy sucking Eddie Redmayne’s dick to notice.
DuVernay is right about this being about much more than an awards ceremony. Hollywood consists of mostly white males producing, directing, and writing stories about white males. Almost all the films that get released to theaters, from the fantastic to the awful, are about white men. It's about empowering women and…
Would she never have noticed these symptoms before? Also, how does this effect her tolerance (not the numbers but her actual ability to deal) when she is actually drinking? Higher, lower? Ok, ok, I will Google too. (unrelated note I love your screen name)
I always wondered this... even as a kid. Your movie is set in Egypt, or other places in the Middle East, in Asia, etc... why is the main guy white even though they’re “from” there?
I didn’t see a lot of movies this year so I have no idea what is likely to be nominated in any of the major categories. I think the issue we need to be more concerned with is that we need more roles for non white actors.
Yep. Why is white skin treated as the default? Even for Egyptian gods.
