It actually isn’t more expensive to lock them up than it is to kill them. This article is well worth a read:

I never said it was more humane. I said it was more practical. I said it isn’t a deterrent to crime (which is one of the common reasons people give when trying to defend the death penalty) and I said it isn’t justice (because I don’t think it is). I didn’t say anything about whether it was more humane or not..

It sounds crazy but it’s true. It costs significantly more to pursue the death penalty because the convicted person is allowed to spend years appealing the decision, which costs millions in court costs. Plus, during this whole time, they are in prison, so we’re paying those costs as well. Most death row inmates are

Yeah, this makes no sense. If he wants to kill himself why should we stop him? It’s cheaper and faster than trying to put him on death row...

Goddammit can we just stop with all the killing? Death begets death begets death. If someone kills a bunch of people, killing them doesn’t solve anything. It doesn’t work as a deterrent; it isn’t justice. It’s just petty revenge and it just costs us a significant amount of money and time. Just lock him up and throw

I’m curious what that process is like. I don’t know anything about adoption or children who are abandoned. How does that work? Is there a special list of adoptive parents waiting for children to be found/born and left at the hospital?

The church may have been what was close by, and there is likely to be less surveillance then there would be at a hospital or firehouse. A woman in that situation is clearly desperate - I can’t judge or imagine what my decision making process would be if I were her. The baby is safe and that is what matters.

And all the KALE. Future generations will think our obsession with Kale was an experiment by the government paid for by the kale lobby. For god sakes people, spinach is just as good for you and it tastes like and has the texture of food!

Same here. Does that mean we’re the ones everyone hates hanging out with???

That’s right! I forgot about that (but in my defense, I saw the John Green video before I ever watched The West Wing).

I’m against the penny, but I totally disagree on this one. Coins are heavy and make noise; a paper bill is virtually weightless and silent. I would much rather have 1 dollar bills than 1 dollar coins.

Now playing

I was against pennies way before you! *adjusts flannel shirt and plays a wax cylinder* In all seriousness, it’s good John Oliver is giving this issue attention.

I found out about the correct pronunciation a few weeks ago but I cannot get my brain to correct itself. “Tee-ga” forever.

I’ve planned thanksgiving this year so that I only have to cook dinner in 1.5 hrs on the day of. I’m spatchcocking the turkey, and then I’ve made everything else this weekend and froze it so I just have to reheat it in the oven on Thanksgiving. That includes the green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and a

I wasn’t totally sold on Tennant at first, because I love him so much from Doctor Who so he isn’t that scary to me. However, I just finished episode 6 and I was actually recoiling from the tv yelling ‘OH MY GOD NO!’. So yeah, I’m terrified of him now.

I saw the first episode of iZombie and loved it! I keep meaning to return to it but I get distracted and end up watching something else (like Jessica Jones).

Woot! Dance Party!

I wondered if that was the case when I read them. Books 2 & 3 aren’t nearly as well developed and feel like an afterthought to book 1.
