I’m not expressing my view. I’m saying what got her in trouble with the people who fired her. That is my guess. I don’t think it’s right but, she might have been unaware how some might have perceived it. Look, I just think this a conflict one should tread into carefully, and I see a lot of people aren’t. Stopping the

There is no complexity to innocent civilians dying, that is true. But the ongoing, decades old conflict that has caused their deaths is very complicated and anyone who thinks otherwise has not a clue about it. I haven’t read all of Melissa Barrera’s posts, but from what I’ve seen, much of it was just humanitarian

Straw man defense. People outraged over the indiscriminate bombing campaign is not what I take issue with. It’s an atrocity that is indefensible. People taking sharp political sides in the conflict without actually understanding the history involved is what I think is foolish, and they reveal their ignorance of it

She should not have been let go for her comments, but I’m seeing a lot of younger people on social media, including my relatives, speaking up on this conflict without any deep understanding of it. All they see are brown people being bombed and that feeds into some preconceived notions of ‘colonialism bad’ and so they e

The show ends in the first scene when Tim is unable to afford a home in today’s market and can’t qualify for a mortgage.

He said he ‘quit smoke’. Not all weed.

Taika’s shtick has gotten tiresome for me. He’s become a bit of a one trick pony. All his comedy derives from people with grandiose notions of themselves failing miserably. His bits usually fall back on the pattern of, hey I’m about to do this amazing thing and...ooops...it wasn’t so amazing...ha ha. I suspect he’s

When did Daniel Stern sneakily become a weighty dramatic actor? Never knew he could carry a role with any kind of gravitas but he felt very convincing in his senior role here.

If an actor asked me this question as a filmmaker, I wouldn’t be the least bit offended. I’d reply, I want you in this movie because I need x, y and z and I think you’re the best guy to give me x, y and z in this particular part, and thoroughly explain why. I’d prefer it, as I know they aren’t just taking the part for

Jesus, it’s been seven years? What’s with this time bullshit? Always moving forward! Fucking sucks.

Tropic Thunder?

More like White Adam.

The problem for me is that Scorsese made Kundun from the Tibetan perspective and did that just fine, so he’s capable. My suspicion is that the subject matter made him uneasy so he retreated to a comfort zone, making movies about sociopathic white men who self-destruct.

It’ll be Tom Holland as Luke Skywalker. Chris Pratt as Han Solo. Rachel Ziegler as Princess Leia to incite the racists. Ian Mckellen as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Chewie will needlessly be CGI.  Darth Vader will be voiced by AI.

What you say is true, but I also said, it’s not the same thing by orders of magnitude. You can work hard and become a doctor, lawyer, or plumber without those advantages, just maybe not as easily and or prestigiously. The entertainment business is fickle and not a meritocracy at all. There are legions of talented,

Nobody cares that kids of actors want to do the same thing as their parents. They are calling out the fact that those kids often get a fast pass to stardom, leaping over the gatekeeepers that the regular actor has to face and overcome. The barriers to entry for being a doctor, or a plumber or whatever nepotism analogy

Just watched the Moonlighting pilot, and I don’t think there’s ever been a greater debut TV performance by an actor. From second one he shows up as peak motherfuckin’ Bruce Willis and never lets up. I don’t think he ever had a better role for his talents.

I understand the sentiment, but the people spending the money are expecting it back plus a healthy return.

The film is designed to be two people’s contrasting, first-person views, Oppenheimer’s and Strauss’. We don’t see anything outside either point of view. If the film had a broader scope and then chose not to show the bombing and its effects, he would have a legitimate point.

Dan Harmon’s in pretty good shape these days.
