THE FOOD. No joke, it’s a good think I have it on kindle, because I’m googling recipes every five seconds.

Having read the books, Crazy Rich Asians is essentially an adult version of Gossip Girl. I’m not saying that disparage the series or the movie, because  sometimes you just need to read and watch something light and fun, but if Gossip Girl-esque media is not your cup of tea, then you wouldn’t enjoy it.

I was talking about the September issue specifically.

(...which happens to be their most important/biggest cover, hence the significance.)

God, if this isn’t true. I remember a message board friend making an offhand comment about once delivery is over, the entire focus is on the baby.

You are 100% correct. And black women are 3-4 times more likely to die during/after childbirth than white women.

No easy task living up to the glory that is Bob and Gwen, though they did a damn fine job of it in “All That Jazz”.

What’s weird is true capitalists should love this shit. Government-financed roads give companies the infrastructure they need to move goods and people cheaply and easily. Government-financed education provides a glut of educated workers that ensures a healthy supply of high-quality labor while giving the ability to

I don’t like Trump fellating Putin, either, but neither do I like the “Resistance” holding up the intelligence community as heroes, making common cause with warmongering neocons (who are against Trump for the wrong reasons), and believing that Russia is still communist.

“No single factor put Trump in office, everything had to line up perfectly for him to get there”

“Whataboutism” implies excusing the behavior, which I’m not. I’m saying I can be critical of both things, in fact, I can be critical of a plethora of things, without excusing any of it.

I won’t go so far as to say this is a bad take. There’s some truth here, but it’s definitely a very loaded take.

I can be enraged at Putin along with our home grown fascists at the same time. Basically, every element that went into giving Trump his extremely narrowwin” should be scrutinized, including Clinton’s political ineptitude and the pettiness of anyone who “couldn’t bring themselves to vote for her”. No single factor

Except it is black and white. For everyone not obsessing about an alternate reality where Bernie Sanders didn’t get his ass kicked in the primary and went on to beat Trump, then the President’s blatant refusal to acknowledge a truth that everyone with any standing to weigh in on the matter from every political

Domestic counter-intelligence isn’t the job of the CIA.

I’ve had to pick up pieces from people who had been taken advantage of. Its ripped my soul apart every time I’ve listened to family and friends. There are patterns of force, and they are as tragic as they are avoidable. If I’ve learned anything its to be wary of those who seek power, fame and fortune above all else -

Going full-on Cultural Revolution is probably a bit much (it took more than a generation for China to fully recover from it), but reverting to a more progressive tax structure and building a more robust educational system and social safety net would be good starting places that don't involve massive asset seizures and

Politicians and high-ranking public servants are a lot like athletes in that most of them, with the exception of unlikable hell beasts like Ted Cruz, are very buddy buddy when the game is over. Ginsburg and Scalia were close friends outside of the court room, many senators/Congressman hang out and recreate together

America isn’t a progressive country. Obama was about as progressive a president as there’s been since LBJ and by the end of his term he could’ve passed for Barry Goldwater.
