It’s actually a REALLY good read. This woman’s level of insufferability is not left untouched.
It’s actually a REALLY good read. This woman’s level of insufferability is not left untouched.
And NOW I see that this woman is featured in THIS weekend’s NYT magazine? What the hell is going on?
My theory is she is surrounded by a lot of non-famous or less-famous friends who like reflected glory and find that she’s easy to manipulate into letting her hang out with her if you compliment her.
By denying that there are aspects of the current practice of Islam that need to be reformed- particularly the way that many Muslims take a literalist interpretation of the Koran- you’re making it much more difficult for those Muslims who are trying to bring about this contemporary reformation.
Because in the mind of the American lefist, Muslim = POC= above reproach I am a half-Palestian Quarter irish german, and let me tell you, this crap INFURIATES ME—- the violence against the innocent, then the KNEE_JERK lefty reactions.. Most Muslims, most Imans I have known have been decent, everyday people. But there…
It is neither strictly true that ‘no real Muslim’ would commit a terrorist attack nor true that the rise of Islamic terror is rooted in faith to the Quran. Islamic terrorism is a result of a variety of factors, especially factors related to national and religious identity and foreign intervention. So, the Islamic…
Oh but he voted for it for the “right reasons,” dontcha know, as opposed to Hillary who didn’t vote for it at all, had no tangible role in drafting it, and made her now-famous comments two years AFTER the law had already been passed.
Let’s not forget that the crime bill actually had the support of leaders from various communities of color. At the time, these communities were being decimated by senseless violence.
Seems like a lot of people here live in a serious liberal bubble. And I’m talking as someone who lives in Brooklyn, has always voted Democrat and despises Trump — I know MANY people who voted for him.
The Sunday after the election my husband and I ran into some friends who were hardcore liberal activists (like considered left wing fringe in the 60s, on the FBI watch list, and one assault that they legitimately assume was a targeted attack and possible attempt on his life) back in the day and my husband asked them…
Actually, that notice sounds perfect. It doesn’t say “forbid the show” it doesn’t say “this show is bad”, it says “here is what this show is about, here are talking points suggested by experts that will help you talk to your teenager about it, here are resources if it seems to trigger depression or suicidal ideation…
If it helps, most antidepressants and psychotropic medications are just molecules that happen - among other things - to be effective at treating symptoms of mental illness. They have been marked as anti-depressants/mental illness-related medications but that’s just pharmaceutical companies trying to create a market…
It’s very easy for me to be sympathetic to the people who buy this stuff, because usually they’re not so much gullible as desperate. If you have a chronic condition like fibromyalgia that medical science still hasn’t made much progress in treating, you really do need some kind of hope that your days and nights aren’t…
OK, so I understand your reaction. And, I’d just like to say that as someone who was going through menopause from hell due to Tamoxifen, I was put on Lexapro —- not a single hot flash, mood swing or anything after that. My oncologist says at least 50% of her patients on tamox go on effexor (That’s close enough to the…
I have a lot of sympathy for them. I live in the Pacific Northwest where woo (psudoscience) is endemic. I fell down a black hole of postpartum depression after my son was born; I was desperate to feel better. I spent money on so many dumb things over the course of the year. I was surrounded by people who were…
Having grown up with a stepmom who bought into this stuff (anti-vax, crystal healing, herbs, homeopathy, muscle testing, cleanses, detoxes, enemas, generational pain manifesting in a person, etc., etc.), I think part of the reason these people buy into this is that they want answers to things that aren’t answerable,…
We’re going to need a bigger jar.
Yup - and just the road trip homage to regular folks hanging around outside.
I was not expecting to see this news at all. At first, I just thought a lot of people on Twitter had suddenly all realized how great he was and were just randomly commenting on him because so many of the tweets were in the present tense.
Know someone that once worked for him, and they said he was a 100% standup, nice, thoughtful guy who always treated staff with total respect and kindness. Sort of a rarity in Hollywood. He will be missed.
