Holy shit people are actually defending this criminal?

That’s just it.. Apple didn’t lose. There were multiple allegations/counts and Apple won every single one of them except one.. which this author is trying to claim is a slam dunk win for Epic.. but it’s not.. because Epic was found guilty of Breech of Contract so they more than likely wont be allowed back on the iOS

How has this headline not been changed yet?

Everyone dunking on Kotakus headline is pretty much right. Like you don’t have to be immersed in the nuance of the decision to see Apple is praising the ruling and Epic isn’t to come away with the general idea that Apple won a pretty big victory here for their business model.

This article is inaccurate; Apple is barred from preventing developers from including a link in apps to locations to purchase things *outside of the app*, not for in-app purchases.

Epic ‘won’ one small part of the case, I think Apple clearly sees themselves the victor here.

Erm, thats kind of a misleading title. It won one part of a multipart suit, and lost every other part.

Apple won on 9 of the 10 counts and Epic was disappointed with the ruling, but the lede on Kotaku says “EpIc WiNs BiG fOrTnItE lAwSuIt AgAiNsT aPpLe.”

This is a very lazy reading of the verdict. You’d learn more by reading the WSJ article or the one from the NYTs. It’s much more nuanced. Apple is taking a hit, but it’s not even close to everything Epic wanted.

The stock took a hit because investors read a bunch of misleading headlines like the one on this article instead of actually reading the ruling.

Yes, Epic “won” this lawsuit so hard that their game is still banned from the iOS store and Sweeney is already bitching about an appeal.

I swear to god, do any of you people reporting on this actually READ the documents??? Epic basically got their ass handed to them!

Apple still won on 9 out of 10 counts. The only thing that changed is that they can’t prohibit publishers from providing links to outside payment methods.

I would love to hear the thought behind the title since Epic won one claim and lost every single other one.. and has to pay out Millions to Apple, meanwhile they were found guilty of breech of contract and Apple doesn’t have to let them back on the platform so who cares if Epic won the outside money issues because

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding this ruling.  This is a near total loss for Epic.  If Apple decides to let Fortnite back onto the App Store, which they do not have to do, Epic will be able to use their own payment processing system.  But Apple is still entitled to their 30% cut of that revenue.  This

Counterpoint: This is a huge win for Apple.

You have to add the rest of the ruling though, Epic won’t be able to make use of any of the payment ruling so far because Apple doesn’t have to let fortnite back on the App Store and they don’t have to give Epic back their developer account.

You didn’t mention that Apple won every single other count besides this one.

There are literally thousands of other sites hosting the same roms and the Internet Archive. It's going to be alright.

The most insane part is they have the model for this is ff4 PSP. It's a seriously perfect remake. Original and arranged sound track. Redrawn pixel art that is true to the original. Holy shit square...
