The ESPN main color guys are so bad. JVG too, for different reasons. This tweet resonates with me deeply:

You can argue they did though, the winning goal resulted from a very generous interpretation of the offside rule. At the very least, the fact that it took so long to review suggests that it wasn’t an obvious officiating error and should probably not have been overturned.

It is a pretty crabmeaty rhetorical device

Our feeling was the worst thing that could happen would be a re-injury of the calf — so the Achilles came as a complete shock.

“This feeling of embarrassment, this shyness, this bashfulness, if you take that out of the people, then these people will do whatever they want to do. And that is the very definition of America, a people who have no shame, and therefore they do, whatever, they want, to do.” - some dude at the end of a Tribe Called

I tell my kids to always play to the best of their abilities.

Shockingly, Rapinoe seemed to treat this very grave and important matter as if it were a silly little issue worthy only of her laughing dismissal

Nobody’s calling the American’s dicks because they scored too much.

Hey, glad they won! I’m not opposed to running up the score because goal differential is the first tie breaker and if they let up at 6-0, there’s no reason to think Sweden wouldn’t try and win 7-0.

I like this story because in a way it’s uniquely American. It’s about sporting excellence, pride in your accomplishments and not even pretending to understand the concept of moderation.

Regardless of play style, the fresh legs you bring out do not need to be attacking players.

I’d think the same if Man City scored 13 against an amateur non league opponent.

Goal difference matters but 13-0 isn’t the problem. In Europe, it’s common for teams to need 5 or more goals against cupcakes like Andorra or the Faroes in order to keep their difference high. The problem is wildly celebrating goals against the weakest possible opponent. The problem is humiliating people who already

I’m glad you recognize this take makes you a total herb.

On the one hand, this is a fairly harmless and funny prank. On the other hand, this guy runs a parody Steve Berthiaume account for some reason.

He didn’t really shun offers. Villa wanted 40-45M and spurs didn’t want to pay the transfer fee.

It definitely gets deep into semantics, but I can see how there would be a difference. Durant isos don’t necessitate the amount of defensive movement that is necessary when he’s not on the floor and the Warriors are flinging it around to everyone. The overall point (which actually works in Durant’s favor) is that even

You’re talking about the same Ajax that just knocked Real Madrid out of the Champions’ League (in a not-particularly-close fashion) and is going to make upwards of $200M this offseason just from selling a few of the players who were worth nothing last year? Seems like they’ve figured out how to make a pretty

I generally have pretty good reading comprehension, but I cannot figure out why this post, no matter how much it equivocates, seems to be defending Manchester City.

A slight update: The unnamed staffer actually only claimed they were better at being a horse than the horse lady. In the interest of partial transparency, here is a copied and pasted list of claims they made, verbatim:
