Quiet you fool, or they may decide to close Respawn to spite us!
Quiet you fool, or they may decide to close Respawn to spite us!
I guess EA doesn’t want to make good games that people will want to buy? From an outside perspective this doesn’t make any sense. Respawn has been solid with their games and the Star Wars IP.
How interesting. They laid off 800 people last March so they could restructure and focus on the right projects https://kotaku.com/ea-layoffs-jobs-andrew-wilson-profits-electronic-arts-1850281078. I’m sure this time the restructuring will work and that it has nothing to do with giving more money to execs or stock…
I cannot, for the life of me, understand what on earth would lead them to cancel a Respawn Star Wars FPS. The Jedi games (licensed) have sold well, Titanfall (original) didn’t. Why would a genre they have excelled at (FPS) with a license that has sold games (Star Wars) not be a shoo-in? It’s absolutely possible it was…
I was secretly hoping that Respawn’s Star Wars shooting would let you call down an AT-ST partway through the match. And run on walls with the force. Now we shall never know.
still stupid and gamey enough for me!
Social media is an expression and reflection of humans. It’s like saying mirrors are a mistake.
I always assume when devs make a bet like that, they were going to do it anyway.
I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze overall.
For this game it seems like that people are mad that “official” support for them wont be happening for a while.
when the recent Cult of the Lamb DLC was being promoted, people kept jokingly referring to it as the “sex patch.” After a while, the devs said that if they got another 20,000 followers on Twitter by the end of the year, they would add sex into the game.
It has nothing to do with cultural phenomenon. This toxicity has been increasing for years. See: God Of War release announcement, Palworld, Insomniac, Naughty Dog.
also correct me if i’m wrong but it’s called ‘helldivers’ because they can do a mid-air dive, right? that’s such a perfect dumb videogamey thing that makes me smile.
Take a lesson from Fromsoft. They do not give a shit about fan communication. They do note issues the community is complaining about for patches but there’s almost never statements, and definitely no conversations. They do things their way and let the chips fall where they may.
People who are threatening devs are absolute ghouls. I can understand being peeved that it’s going to be awhile before there is official support; that said, Larian absolutely does not need to provide said support if they don’t want to. It’s not their problem at the end of the day. They gave us a game; all they owe…
“there’s bound to be people lacking in social decorum that seep into a community”
Yeah this was amazing news (even if it wasn’t completely news, we expected it). I don’t get the negativity. The idea of having BG3 as a basis upon which people might be able to create campaigns is incredible and well worth waiting for.
That was your first mistake, gamers are never happy.
For this game it seems like that people are mad that “official” support for them wont be happening for a while. Its not the mods themselves but the fact that entitled gamers are mad a company said things take time. Given how many game companies never offer support for mods at all, I would think they would be happy…
My spawn played this a fair amount this weekend after we picked it up Wednesday or Thursday. He was able to get in to most missions, but would wind up with periods of time where he would get an “unable to access game lobby” (or something to that effect) error message that was a bit frustrating.
