Ooh! Lum from Urusei Yatsura made the cut! I didn't realize how much of an 80s anime nerd I was until I looked at this. The only thing that would have made it even more perfect would be an 8-bit Priss from Bubblegum Crisis.

Are you not allowed to renew books if there's a long waiting list?

Thanks for responding and for being so diplomatic about it. I remember your comments from the Sopranos write-ups a couple of years ago, and on some level I think I just wanted to know your thoughts on SFU in comparison to that show. :)

I could have easily checked his IMDB to find out who exactly he was on SVU, but I seriously can't deal with looking at his face.

This episode certainly changed me and helped me grow as a writer. I used to be all about making my characters suffer, which in retrospect is such a hack's shortcut at generating conflict. After watching this for the first time, I was like, "You know what? Nobody wants to see that." SFU taught me more about empathy

Can I ask what you disliked about Six Feet Under? I know most people don't hold it in the same regard as other HBO dramas from the same time period, and I'm always interested in finding out what kept it from gaining that status.

I'm pretty sure the same actor played Benson's psycho half-brother on SVU. Though he might not have actually been psycho, and I just assume such because he was played by this actor. And also, Benson only seems to interact with psychos, so I think it's a safe assumption.

I just started Molly Ringwald's novel in short stories When It Happens to You because I'm trying to write something in a similar format AND it was on sale for $2. I've never been much of a judge of prose, but I'm finding hers lacking in ways that I've never really noticed from other works (that aren't, say, subpar

Here's hoping they leave out that whole section of Katniss playing with the pet cat out of the film(s).

When I took my niece to see Veggie Tales live at some megachurch in Sugarland, TX, I was shamelessly way more into the show than she was. They performed a remix of The Hairbrush Song that was so fucking crunked and, like, club-ready. I honestly don't know if that was just a live-only remix or what, but it was the jam.

I've got one more story to go in Interpreter of Maladies which I've been enjoying so, so much. I've also been eating a ton of Indian food lately, because when Lahiri tells you what her characters are preparing and eating for dinner, she really tells you, and it's impossible to not get hungry. Next up: The Goldfinch!

Tito Jackson would play a sick riff, that's what.

But man, how glorious is the moniker Cho'zyn Boy?

So I think Anita may be the secondary SFU character I dislike the most. When I first watched this show, I thought it was just because she was irritating, but I now realize just how well the writers nailed that character.

Can't Hardly Wait!

Was Andrew McCarthy also in a bra and panties?

Oh my gosh, yes! I saw this on the way home just last night!

Picturing your parents as Jane and George Jetson makes me wish I could upvote this comment more than once.

“I’d definitely tap that. Ass.”
