It’s incredibly resource intensive to build a 500m high building alone, much less an entire city. The resouce requirements basically increase exponentially the higher you go, and 500m is very high indeed. Not many single buildings are that high, much less stretch out 170 fucking kilometers...

Here’s my theory which works for me and probably why I think a lot more about the sequels than the first film even though it was the best. You could say that the first film ends like John Connor bests the machines.
