This is a great comment (no sarcasm).

Okay, that’s a fair point; maybe I’m overestimating the degree of distraction. There definitely are things that are more important than the casting of Comey (e.g., historical accuracy, the casting of Trump, directing, dialogue), but I’d still put it near the bottom of the Top 10. Still, that’s splitting hairs.
I mean, the “$500 million the team pulled in” wouldn’t automatically be invested elsewhere, right? I think you’re right that we “blow a shit load of money on entertainment every year” – so presumably every dollar not spent on sports would go to other entertainers, right? So while, yeah, $500 million more for…
That’s true, and that probably influenced casting. And I’m not saying that Jeff Daniels is a bad actor! I just think he’s a poor fit for this particular role (although I must confess that off the top of my head I can’t think of a clearly superior replacement).
What about Clooney?
C’mon. Obviously the casting of Jeff Daniels is not one of the Top 10 Most Important Things happening in this country right now. But — given that this is an article about a trailer for miniseries called *The Comey Rule* based on a book authored by *James Comey* — it seems like my original post was far from irrelevant.…
At least from the trailer, the accent sounds totally off, and they really messed up the hair color. Plus I think Comey’s face is significantly thinner.
I’m sorry, but Jeff Daniels as James Comey is laughable casting.
But also, it kind of works?
MLK was assassinated in 1968. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 were enacted in... well, you know.
WALL-E on line one.
How about this trailer? (Bad movie though)
Is this new copypasta?
Just like “light treason.”
I think the frequent references to her TV show are pretty tone deaf, too.
Say what you will about the Sulzbergers, Bezos, and Soon-Shiong, but at least they’re keeping their legacy print publications alive and well (minus one or two truly moronic op-ed columnists). I know that a lot of these publications are profitable before the VC Bros come in and strip them for parts, but for those that…
A worthy effort.
+1 delayed payoff (or payout?)
*Sam Elliott. C’mon, where’s the editing around here?
“He’s much too far right to reasonably be considered a “centrist”.”
